Last night here in Jacksonville, I went to a minor league hockey game, while waiting in line for beer, the person in front of me made a comment to the person behind me as they were wearing a Pats shirt, he was a pats fan, and here in Florida, there we were, 3 pats fans in a row, and we just talked and reminsed about the super bowl wins... WE chatted about the loss for the first minute, but instantly talked about the awesomeness of the other championships!

That's whats awesome, in 20 years, we will always have the 3 wins to talk about, what you did, where you were, how you watched it, the stories... ect...

If your still upset about the loss, think about the sweetness that was the 3 champiosnhips. Especially having the chance to GO to the first win was awesome and will always trump a loss in the SB.

To me it's like the difference between being a millionaire and a billionaire (as a fan, obviously I'm neither). We're already millionaires. The perfect season would have made us billionaires but I can live with being a millionaire too :)

I want to be a billioniare. Can me greedy, call me arrogant, whatever I don't care.

I want another Championship........good news, so does Mr. Brady.

Shouldn't this thread be called why the other 3 titles drown the sorrow of the SB loss.

Nothing about your post says why the loss isn't so bad just says that we got other SBs to be happy about.

But, I do agree with your statement, we will always have those 3 out of 4 and those will always be special memories in the minds of us fans.

I agree with the OP here. Its never as bad as it seems, and there's no point in living in the past with the loss. Living with past wins, yes. Losses? No. Gotta move on. But when you win 18 in a row, and complain about the one loss, even though it was obviously a monster, its almost like complaining about ONLY dating Miss America and not Miss Universe. Tough loss. But what we dont die from only makes us stronger.

There is always years to come for us to become Billionares and Miss Universe daters.

btw, that young Chris Johnson fellow might not look bad in a Pats uniform. I know he has amazing speed. But dont really know where he's projected to fall. Got any idea where you see him going or when? or for that matter, what kindof role he'd excel in at the next level? He's one of the young backs Im personally hoping theyre giving some thought to with possibly that 2nd third round pick.

It is not the fact that we lost the super bowl that is bad. We've lost a couple of them before and I hardly gave them a second thought. Its the missed opportunity in this case. Yeah their great, but they could have been outstanding. Realistically, they will never have a chance to be "billionaires" again.

Hopefully this will change, but I think that even if they go on to win the superbowl this upcoming year, I will still have that nagging thought in the back of my mind that it was not 19-0.

Dont sweat it, BSR. If they win the SB next season, that one loss will be long forgotten. Youll remember that 18-1 season as it should be remembered, fondly. And it would be just another one of several very solid seasons during this run where they came up a little short. But snagging a 4th title following up last year's loss would be every bit as sweet as a win this year would have. Let's hope it happens.

He is the RB he ran the 4.2 forty right. I would be interested in that kind of speed.

So...we become like those obnoxious Dolphins and Steelers fans and blather on about championships in a past era forever receding in memory?

There's nothing "not bad" about that debacle.

Thanks for sharing the story, but I'm not sure there's really a correlation. I obviously fondly remember the three SB wins, but that doesn't make me feel any better about losing this one. That doesn't mean I take the three wins for granted, just that losing never feels good, no matter how you rationalize it.

Yes. I believe that's the kid. I think it was the fastest time at the combine of any player.

People here don't understand one thing, we didn't just lose a SB. We lost a chance at historic greatness that could never be topped: 19-0.

Sorry, continue cheering the past SB wins. :(

Yeah, and the odds are well against ever seeing the Patriots having a chance to do that again in our lifetimes (although I think someone eventually will, so who knows).

Thanks for drudging this up, haha, I was all focused on the draft too!

You've heard that there's serious talk about expanding the regular season to 17 or even 18 games, yes?

Honestly, though, who's to say that the Pats can't go 19-0 this year? [I'm not saying will or won't, merely that the possibility can't be ignored the way it could for, say, the 'lphins. ;) ]

No one can say that for sure, obviously. But considering that there have been plenty of truly great teams over the years, and only one has made it to 18-0 (and even they had a few close calls), I don't think it's any stretch to say that the odds are incredibly slim, even for the best of the best.

It's going to be tough, so much pressure. We were so close last year, we could taste it. :(

Not only that...but while we didn't come out with a win in the end, we did set records that will be the focus of every team for years to come. In a few years, people may not remember who won this Super Bowl...but if you ask them which team went 16-0 in the regular season...or which QB threw 50 TDs...or which receiver caught 23 etc....

...I'm pretty sure they'll know.

:woohoo:
