It is surprising, but not just with the Patriots, every team seems to be rather slow to move on any of the free agent LBs out there. Other than Calvin Pace and Seward, I can't remember hearing about any LB visiting with other teams. And there are still some decent names out there like Haggans, Spikes, and Hobson.

Even Lance Briggs took what people feel was a below market deal since no one seemed to be really willing to take a shot at him. Granted that might have been that Chicago smartly leaked that Briggs' biggest potential suitor tampered with Briggs which might have scared them off.

I am surprised that there is no activity since there are a lot of 3-4 teams out there who need LB help including the Jets, Dolphins, and Browns. I would have thought at least Haggans would get some activity or that Spikes wouldn't have been taking visits immediately after being cut.

Obviously, a lot of professionals think Spikes is more about name recognition at this point, Haggans isn't better for much more then depth, etc. It's very weak.

Zack Thomas, Reggie Torbor, and Kawicka Mitchell all wound up on new teams. Just to name a few.

Ok, I missed a few. Sorry about that. It still seems weird that there are a lot of starting quality LBs out there getting no action and even back up QBs are getting huge deals and action like crazy.

Spikes is still a very good LB. He may not be a stud LB like he used to be, but he could start on quite a few teams. Haggans is still a very good LB too, but his age has scared off Pittsburgh from resigning him since he wanted a long term deal. He may be looking for too much now. Haggans could start on the Pats right now as constituted.

I wouldn't mind either one of those guys. I just think the Patriots would have contacted them by now. We'll see I guess, but I meant a lot of teams obviously felt this LB class isn't great.

The Pats are acting in a slow deliberate manner. Eventually,

Seward will sign an offer sheet. Then, there will be a one week

waiting period. If Seward re-signs with the Panthers, the Pats

will move on to other linebackers.

I know a lot of things get leaked, but just because we haven't heard about it doesn't mean the Pats haven't contacted them. Maybe they made a phone call, got the asking price, said, "Nah, not at that rate, come back when you've shaved a million or two." and moved on.

Who knows. May be Pats are waiting for July 1 cuts. There should be some quality cap casulty players available then. I see no reason to panic and rush to overpay lackluster player.

It's actually June 1 cuts and with a new rule that allows NFL teams to treat upto 2 cuts at the beginning of FA as June 1 cuts, many of those cuts have been made already. There will be some, but not like in the past.

I'm very shocked about the lack of news regarding Roosevelt Colvin

I think for Colvin its more of a matter of when he's going to be fully healed. Personally, i'm hoping, although it seems like its not going to happen, that we bring him back.
