Mods ... put this where you please:

790 "The Score" Rhode Islands sports talk show owned by Citadel who incidently own the rights to broacast the Patriots in Rhode Island have folded. I really don't know how they lasted this long selling all that advertising and having that blowhard :p Gresh as one of their biggies. I always said if they can him they have a chance ... who knows ... he sucks and he's gone ... hurrah!!! Maybe he will call the big chalupa tomasse for advice now.

Rhode Island lost its only local all-sports radio station yesterday when Citadel Broadcasting told employees it would be changing formats on “The Score” — WSKO AM and FM.
“In the end, it was purely a business decision,” said Barbara Haynes, general manager of Citadel Broadcasting, referring to the station’s declining ratings. “The hosts” —:pAndy Gresh:pand Scott Zolak in the morning, and Scott Cordischi in the afternoon — “are good men, and they have a great future in radio.” Hmmm ... Barbara got 2 out of 3 anyways.

I couldn't get it where I am anyway. Unfortunately, I get to hear a lot of Gresh on ESPN radio and the WBCN pregame shows.

I like Gresh - I guess I'm one of few :D

It's too bad that an alternative New England sports outlet has been silenced.

Couldn't get the station..but it's always sad to hear something like that happen...not a big Gresh fan..don't like his style..Zolak is pretty good..but this happens...sad. I wonder what station will pick the ball up?

Stopped listened after they dropped Colletta, this station has been going downhill for a long time now..

I was reading on the inside track, that Zo could take over for Gino, who is looking for a semi retirement..

Colletta? Must have been a big fan of the show if you can't even get the guys name right!

Then I guess I'm one of the many...'cause I can't stand him.

Why in the world do the Krafts allow him and Bogus on their air?

And another thing: of all the great players to grace the uniform of the New England Patriots, why the eff would anyone want to pay Scott Zolak for his opinion?

I never heard them on The Score as I live in CA but a few times I caught Gresh on long drives when he was a guest host on ESPN and I found him to be more listenable than almost any other host I've heard.

I use to be able to listen to the SCORE back in the late ninties. I thought it was a pretty good station. Unlike EEI and Eddy Andleman they actually talked about sports instead of things like toll both workers. But I could never stand Gresh and still can't Not only because of his attempts at sophmoric humor, attacks on callers that disagree with his take, but he's a glorified Al Bundie from (Married with Children) Always talking about when HE played. He played OL at that power house........ Rhodie.

I've only seen Gresh on that CSN show with those other two morons...and I can't stand him. There are many posters here with more football knowledge.

Is there any other market where a backup QB has hung around in the media for so long? It used to make sense, because of his connection to Bledsoe, but that ship sailed away years ago.

That said, he can be a good listen.

Tough going for this bunch... I just happened to tune in yesterday and got 630am talk show on their FM dial, as well as the AM station so knew what was up

Put me in with those who truly appreciate the fact that they brought sports talk radio to RI when we couldn't get anything else

All of their hosts were pretty good, some more than others (they lost me when they got the irritating woman with the raspy voice a few years back)

But there was just no way they could ever compete once EEI was on 103.7

The Score was talking ABOUT Bill Belichick when WEEI was talking WITH Bill Belichick

Which one would you listen to?

I had three problems with Gresh:

(1). He has one gear -- loud and obnoxious.

(2). He's a Steelers homer.

(3). His football commentary can be hard to follow. He gets a bit too technical at times and often uses confusing terminology while talking fast. And I played the game.

As a fill in host on ESPN Andy's on his best behavior. As a co-host or guest on local stations he's like Borges on crack only less insightful. I've never understood how radio and TV sports station managers quantify "talent". Other than believing a pissed off audience is better than none at all maybe... Gresh is a slobbering egomaniacal load built for nitwit sports radio only who thinks he knows it all.

One of the things I resent about guys like him getting on air opportunities is the effect working with them has on others. Smashmouth screamers beget more of the same. Years ago I used to listen to DeOssie when early in his mediot career he co hosted a weekly 4 hour show called Sunday Sports Page on WBZ. Left to his own devices, and absent politics, he is knowledgeable, articulate, thoughtful and insightful. Pair him with Fred and Pete and....you get less and less of that.

Even right wing wacko homer that he is, I enjoy watching Fred spar with Borges when they are paired up with a lightweight like Amorosino on Channel 7's Sports Extra because he puts Ron on notice and it shows. And Steve is still my favorite foil when Felger is on with Lobel because he routinely cuffs Felgie in mid rant and tells him to STFU because he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Unfortunately sports radio producers seem to put a lot more stock in entertainment value than actual rational sports talk. Apparently the target demographic is to blame, and we see more and more of that demographic here these days too.

I couldn't have said it better myself..
When I was reading everyone stuff, I felt the need to add something..

When the fiancee and I are driving in the car, she never minds me listening to sports talk (even weei). She cuts a joke once in a while how ridiculous they sound but whenever Gresh is on, she asks it to be changed.. She always calls him a blow hard who just speaks loud because he doesn't sound like he knows what he is talking about.. Funny I have to agree with her.. 790 stunk!

Gresh is a loser and it always seemed like Zolak was trying to hard to be a shock jock.

That annoying jerk was Amy Lawrence...she's ESPN or Fox now.

I had my own nickname for Gresh that used to grind his gears...Blabba the Gutt...he's a real mouthbreather...carried a 2.0 GPA at URI for 4 years...his wife is a fat slob and his younger brother, the one with the brains and the uncrossed eyes, lives far away in another state.

Gresh single handedly ruined the SCORE IMO
