This guy seems like he would be a perfect fit for the Pats. He seems like the perfect Nose tackle and would be insurance if big Vince skips town.

He is hands down the best 2-gap NT prospect in the draft. The only problem is that he will probably go too high for the Patriots, as they're unlikely to spend such a high pick on a back-up. A guy like Attybah Rubin in the fourth or fifth seems more likely.

Agreed, alas. Bryant should be a priority target for a team like Cleveland.

Problem for Cleveland is they don't pick until the end of the 4th round, barring trades.

There are two other teams in the AFC East that would love to have him. I'm thinking Jets in the second.

Yes, he is hands down the best. Have him on my list of surprise picks for the Pats. Why a surprise? Most of us would like a later day pick to serve as backup to Wilfork. But knowing Belichick, when all of us are cheering for that CB or OLB/DE at the end of round two, he might add strength to the strength of the defense -- the DL. Bryant represents extreme value...and value is how BB drafts.

It could also signify that they expect trouble signing Wilfork to an extension next year.

D'oh! Forgot about that little wrinkle. But as Dryheat notes, the Jets are the next most likely landing spot. If by some chance he's still around at the top of the 3rd I could see the Pats biting, though.

I'm starting to think this guy is mid to late first round material. I'd be shocked to see him get pasts the Jets in the top of the 2nd.

If you look at Bryant's game, you see a true 3-4 NT. Even when lined up in the 4-3 at Texas A&M, Bryant was gap conscious and really didn't get a lot of penetration because of it.

Bryant uses his hands very well for an interior D lineman and has good functional strength for a college NT. When he plays with good pad level, he is very good at stacking vs. the run and very difficult to move off his spot even when being double teamed. If he gets too high, he winds up playing on skates. I think Pepper could mold this kid into an above average NT capable of starting for us, if we lose Wilfork after the 09 season.

If he makes it to the Pats in the second round, he would be an excellent addition. I do not think Smith is cut out to be a 3-4 NT and is too short to be an every down player at DE. And I can not see Wright lasting more than a few games at NT before he becomes completely ineffective.
