Mike Mayock's Mock Draft

If in fact the draft went this way, I think I would take McFadden at number 7. I know we don't need another rb, but his value at #7 is too high to pass up. I'd rather have McFadden then Harvey or McKelvin.

McFadden at #7? No way! There is much better talent out there at spots we need than him. Maybe draft him as trade bait...ala ShEli Manning.

I would be happier with Gholston, Cason, DRC, etc etc...Sure they (all but Gholston) don't project that high but why draft something we don't need? After Sammy got hurt it seems most Pat fans wrote him off and forgot about him...hell he was a beast in the games he played. I even picked him up on my fantasy team for a few weeks he did so well (And I won first place by the way ;) ).

We definatly do not need another horse in the stable, we need defense..young and fast! :rocker:

I agree with you that we need Defense. But, is McFadden's value so high that you can't pass him up. This is all based on the fact that Long and Gholston are gone. I know, a trade down maybe better, but this just saying we stay at #7. I think I would rather have McFadden then DRC, McKelvin, or a Derrick Harvey. Are either of them worth the #7 pick? I don't think so, but I do know that McFadden is.

With their hands on the ground, I think Harvey is a better pass rusher than Groves.

However with his hand on the ground Michigan proved you can run on Harvey all day.

McFadden is way over-rated. Can you say "REGGIE BUSH" Part II.

If McFadden falls to 7, then the Pats need to make a trade with someone to get out of that spot. McFadden isn't worth it and he's not the next great thing other than maybe the next great BUST.

Au contraire, I think he could be a good one.

Strengths:
Excellent athleticism...Good size with long arms and the frame to get bigger...Has a great motor...Very quick with a great first step...Plays faster than he times and has a burst to close...Great instincts and awareness...Has terrific range and does a good job in pursuit...Does a solid job against the run...Has decent strength and power...Offers some versatility...Plays with a nasty demeanor...Awfully productive.

Weaknesses:
Lacks elite speed...Could stand to bulk up a bit...Needs to add some more moves to his pass rush repertoire..Can get overpowered at the point of attack..Will have to improve his hand use...Struggles to shed blocks once massive offensive tackles are able to lock on...Must do a much better job of protecting his lower extremities.

With the seventh overall pick in the draft and McFadden still on the board, I would expect Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to give up the farm for the guy.

The fact that they passed on Warrick Dunn (who said he wanted to play for Dallas) would seem like an indication that they plan on drafting a RB. I'm still not sure they'll trade up for McFadden, but that's been a constant rumor for a while now. Also, DMac basically said he wants to play for the Cowboys, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

I want to change the player and ask you're opinion, its about Gholston. I've read that hes so thickly muscled that he doesn't have much flexibilty, that he can't change direction very well. That hes more of a straight line rusher. Whats you're impression?
