With the Marlon McCree signing in Denver,it appears from several source reports that Safety John Lynch may be cut soon despite accepting to take a pay cut.

Do the Patriots have any need or reason for maybe taking a look at Lynch for a 1 year deal or is he just too old to play alongside Harrison?.

Personally I think the team just goes with Sanders and Meriweather and passes on an aging Lynch but who knows?

IMO He certainly is still in great playing shape and can hit like a frieght train much like a carbon copy of Rodney.

Didn't he just re-sign with the Broncos like 2 weeks ago? Why would they cut him after re-signing him?

Didn't we pass on him 3 or 4 years ago before we signed Rodney? And now Lynch is 37 years old and plays at a position where there is a premium on speed and quickness? I don't see why we'd be interested at this point.

I don't think they expected on signing McCree at the time of the contract extention to Lynch,Things happen....

Actually, the FO was very interested in Lynch after he was released by Tampa following the '03 season. I don't remember if he visited Foxborough, or cancelled his visit and stayed in Denver.

At this point in time, however, I'm not sure I would want him if he were available. One sack, zero INTs in the last two seasons does not indicate a career on the uptick.

Yeah, we need another Pro-Bowler

(for those who don't get that, Lynch is notorious for getting undeserved Pro Bowl invitations)

You mean like Richard Seymour in 2006 and 2005? ;)

This thread is a waste of time. They're not cutting him.

Then just STFU and STOP reading it,Who asked for your dumb worthless opinion? - get out!!

If he is cut, he will retire. He has talked about that in the past and was close to not coming back last year.

No thanks. Last thing we need is a slow, washed up safety.

He's not getting cut. He just took a paycut to stay with the Broncos. It was very emotional on both sides and Bowlen got involved to make sure an agreement was reached.

These "several sources" the original poster is talking about are mostly coming out of his ass.

So, lets see. You make something up out of thing air (that Lynch may be cut). When its pointed out the Broncos re-signed him 2 weeks ago (and by the way, Broncos OWNER Pat Bowlen sat down and had dinner with him PERSONALLY asking him to re-sign) you make up something further without even one shred of proof or evidence....i.e. they hadn't planned on the McCree signing. When its pointed out that is pure nonsense, you cry and stomp your feet like a 2 year old even going so far as saying who asked for your opinion. Last I checked, this was a message board opened for exactly that reason to the public. Grow up, you made a fool of yourself today.

Play nice kiddies...at least we're not Colts fans.

No, the Pats off the top of my head were one of three teams who went hard after Lynch. He was also wined and dined by the Jets and Herm, whom Lynch has ties to. Aside from having played for Herm, Lynch is also the godfather to Herm's son. And though the Pats offered him a fair contract at the time, Denver obviously won out. Even at this point in his career, he can still hit.
