After Gholston's ridiculous pro day workout, he won't be there at 7.

So wtf are we going to do? Take some overrated CB from a I-AA school in the top 10?!

Who do you see as the first 6 being taken?

I say *** it n take DRC.

Nah...I'd rather take Clady [in the worst case scenario top 6]. #7 is just too expensive to take a CB...

I'll take Clady or J. Long at #7 if available. Brady is the franchise and his health is our most important issue. Clady is a little better than D-Brick, a serviceable LT-not in the class of J. Brown or Marcus McNeil- but better than Light. J. Long isn't close to Joe Thomas, but he would be the best OTackle on the Pats immediately. If both Longs, Gholston and Clady are all gone, and I couldn't trade down, I'd go with Groves or Harvey at OLB.

Right now, there are really only 13 players that I like as 1st rdrs. Those would be
C. Long (OLB), Gholston(DE/OLB), Matt Ryan(QB), Clady (LT), Jake Long (RT), James Hardy (WR), J. Stewart (RB), McFadden (RB), D. Harvey (DE), Quentin Groves (OLB), Trevor Laws (DT), Aqib Talib (FS), Antoine Cason (CB).

-I'm waiting for Dorsey and Keith Rivers to work out before deciding how they fit in.

Gholston had a great combine, it would be interesting to see who BB decides to take with the 7th.

I think they will trade down and take corner, and hopefully by the draft we can sign a few free agent LB to add depth. I am rooting for spikes to sign.

Good to hear some Clady talk. That's who I would take. We would immediately improve RT, add depth to both G and T (which may be an issue depending on Neal) and we would potentially have a LT for when Light is gone or declines. If Neal is gone next year (there's been unsubstantiated talk on the main board that he tore his ACL) we may fix both RG (Kaczur) and RT (Clady) with one pick.

I think KC will take Clady if Jake Long goes before 5.

M. Mayock has the Pats taking D. Harvey with the #7 pick. Any thoughts on that?

His physical stats are impressive, like a bigger Willie Mac, but I can't see the FO grabbing a transition player as high as #7 unless he's a no brainer like Gholston. Wouldn't mind seeing it, just like I wouldn't mind seeing Gholston taken if he's on the board, but I'm just not convinced the FO will take this chance this high...I'd expect, as many have suggested, if Gholston is off the board, and they don't think DRC is worth the 7th overall, and they can't trade down, they grab whichever best OT is still there.

Well only 6 can go before us.

If Long, Long, Clady are gone that's 3.

That leaves Ryan, Dorsey, Ellis, McFadden which significantly increases our trade down chances if Dorsey's health checks out. The best QB in the draft, the best athlete (skill position anyway) in the draft and top DL - all things which teams generally trade up for.

Harvey and Groves would certainly in play. I still am not sure Belichick would take a guy who has such a dramatic position move at #7, though, and that includes Gholston. It adds risk.

IMO Gholston's workout is a good excuse for Parcells not to take Ryan at #1, which he may have been trying to talk himself out of to begin with.

1. Mia: Gholston OLB
2. St L: J. Long OT
3. Atl: C. Long DE
4. Oak: Clady OT
5. KC: Dorsey DT
6. NYJ: J. Stewart RB
7. Carolina from NE: #13, #67 and a 2009 3rd rdr for #7: M. Ryan QB
8. Balt: McFadden RB
9. Cinc: Harvey DE
10. NO: Ellis DT
11. Buff: J. Hardy WR
12. Den: Mendenhall RB
13. NE: K. Rivers/Q. Groves/C. Avril/DRC/Talib

I don't know much about this Clady... is he really that good and has the kind of potential to be a dominant tackle?

Atlanta has positioned themselves to take Ryan. That is, of course, unless they like Flacco or Brohm better. Then they could take Chris Long. And being that its Dmitroff there, he probably does go for long.

That would be a sweet trade for the Pats if it happened.

Now, why would Denver, who has Travis Henry, Mike Bell, Selvin Young and Andre Hall, draft Mendenhall?

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if DENVER tried to trade up if Ellis is there when we pick. Denver has a much greater need at DT than they do at RB.

Boise St. LT. More of a LT prospect than a RT as he's quick and athletic for his size but not a physical force. Would sure up the pass protection on the right side, though, and give us a LT option in a year or two when he has some experience and Light is more beaten up.

I'm probably overthinking this. But I could see Atlanta preferring to bank their millions with C. Long at #3, and then try to game the draft with Flacco/Henne/Brohm at #37. That would look like the "safe" play.

Mendenhall is a great zone rb and Shanahan might get excited. He tends to fall in love irrationally with players. IMO there's no elite OL beyond Clady and Long, unless OG Albert, who could be the early sleeper; Dorsey and Ellis will be gone, and Shanahan may convince himself he's taking the "best player available" when it's really just the player Shanahan has a fancy for. I could also see Shanahan drafting K. Rivers after I. Gold was cut.

I think OT is the no brainer pick for us in this draft. Clady and Long are justifiable picks in the top 10 and none of the CB's or LB's are value picks in the top 10. Even if Light remains where he is and Clady or my favorite a trade down for Otah will give us the best O-Line in the NFL for a few years.

Maroney runs to the left way too much and opening up the right side will make our great offense even greater.

I'm beginning to think that the Patriots continue with their (low)risk-(high)reward approach. ...

I think they bring in more veteran help at both CB and LB, in particular, CB Lito Shepherd and LB Jason Taylor. I think they trade down once to Philly for Shepherd, then again to Miami at the top of round two for Jason Taylor.

With those positions filled, now the Patriots can continue with their current belief that the game has shifted to Offense. Therefore, their top two picks are WR Devin Thomas, replacing Stallworth, and TE Kellen Davis, replacing Kyle Brady. In fact, I'll go one step further and say the TE is picked first.

Huh? Why would the Jets take Stewart at #6 over McFadden? Stewart is a mid to late 1st rounder. If they wanted him, they would trade back with Dallas instead. I also don't buy the idea that BP will draft Gholston #1 overall. Chris Long is a much safer choice, and he will likely be the pick. Miami will likely still be able to get a very good QB in round 2, either Brohm or Flacco. That will leave Atlanta to draft Ryan. The good news for Gholston lovers is that likely leaves Gholston at #7 for the Pats. Whether or not BB likes him enough to take him there is anyone's guess.
