RUMOR OF MOSS DEAL IMPLOSION NOT TRUE
Posted by Mike Florio on March 7, 2008, 4:14 p.m.

The e-mail server at PFT headquarters is overflowing with messages from members of PFT Planet’s Philly branch regarding a rumor started by Ron Jaworski during a Friday appearance with our pal Jody Mac of Sports Radio 950.

Per various readers (and as confirmed via a phone call to the studio), Jaws said on the air that the deal between Moss and the Patriots is not signed and could be falling apart.

Though plenty of Eagles readers are now salivating about the possibility of getting another crack at Moss, hold the phone.

The deal is signed and on file with the league. Indeed, the salaries are posted on the NFLPA web site. Moss has signed the deal and is under contract with the New England Patriots through 2010.

So, Jaws, either the lenses in those ladies’ frames are melting your brain, or we need to ask you for a little bit of whatever you have been smoking.

man the nfl sucks.

Re: Rumor Of Moss Deal Implosion Not True

Come on Jaws. I usually think the guy is pretty good.

Re: Rumor Of Moss Deal Implosion Not True

I expect more from Jaws, but at the same time I respect him too much to worry about this one blunder :)

Re: Rumor Of Moss Deal Implosion Not True

Sounds like ESPN trying to cause more grief for the Pats since the alleged boycott.

ESPN is becoming a "Mickey Mouse operation".

That was my thought as well.

And since when would Belichick or anyone in the Patriots organization officially announce a signing that wasn't official?

Miami? Possibly, though I'm sure things are going to be different there now that they signed Calvin Pace.

But the Patriots? I think not.

AH...No.

ESPN wouldn't tell Jaws to go on the air and start a "rumor" that the deal is falling apart.

ESPN does not "need" the patriots in the off-season. They do "need" them once the season starts. They have roughly 5 months to mend the fence.

My guess, Jaws heard something from someone, didn't check it, said it, and it's not true. Shame on Jaws. Should have done his homework like he usually does. He got caught. This was a Jaws thing, not an ESPN thing. Get over it people.

You're right. ESPN set Jaws up because he has been mostly pro-Pats in the past....

How's that?

Re: Rumor Of Moss Deal Implosion Not True

Surprising that Jaws actually said this.
I read it this morning, but I figured it was BS started by Eagles fans/Pats haters.

I don't understand how he could make this mistake?

Re: Rumor Of Moss Deal Implosion Not True

You would think an outfit like ESPN would at least make some small effort to verify before putting it out there. Makes them look bad, real bad.

Chill out, Dude! Two ESPN employees, Hoge and Jackson, have been Pats haters for years. It is not about needs and wants, it is about causing grief, and they are trying.

Luckily, it bugs us fans but not the team. It was irresponsible journalism on Jaworski's part, which reflects on his employer.

You have made what you call a "guess." Don't let your head get so big having made a guess that you can tell others to "get over" what they believe.

I see you've been a member for less than a month. We've been discussing and bickering for years. If this thread bothers you, you will never survive when final cuts come around late August/early September. Best check out a gardening forum.

Re: Rumor Of Moss Deal Implosion Not True

I still would like to know the context it was said and WHAT exactly was said. PFT saying it was confirmed via phone call to the studio...ok???? Who confirmed it the "studio", the security guard? The janitor?, The receptionist? or did he speak with one of the people that were in studio when the comment was made? Did Florio make the call or did a poster claim to have called?

I say all of this because Jaws really seems to be one of the most prepared football people on air and usually has something to back it up. I don't always agree with him but he doesn't have full blown blinders on a'la Steve "one to many concussions" Young....but it is driven by his actual football opinion not anything else IMO.

Florio throws Sh t against the wall constantly and sees what sticks....beagles fans???? Yeah there is an intelligent fan base....

I am sure there is something to this where Jaws said something but really I want to hear the context of what he said and why....there is just so few mediots with any intelligence I want to wait until the FACTS are in before even saying anything negative about the "comment". Especially considering that the "reporter" is known to exaggerate and flat out make up stuff in the past.
