I think this is a very distinct possibility and gives New England its 2 first round picks back and gives Dallas a shot for McFadden even though I think he may be gone by then.

There may be solid LBs or CBs available by the 22nd/28th and NE may be able to have 2 of the picks such as LBs Dan Connor and Curtis Lofton or CBs Leodis McKelvin,Antoine Cason (who I like a lot),Reggie Smith ect:

I think it would be a no brainer to do it if Dallas comes calling before the draft comes about - What is your opinion?

In a New York minute.

I DEFINITELY would. It's technically "not enough" by the Jimmy Johnson Chart, but a lot of people have said they need to revisit the value-system inherent in it. I'd love to make that deal, but the only way it happens is if McFadden falls to #7, which I consider doubtful.

If they wait til McFadden is available @ #7 they could get a lot more in return. Plus getting Dallas #1 next year and one of their #1's this year is much more likely.

I would squeeze their 5th also ... got to get to 1500 :D

Yes in 2 seconds. But I still say the Jets are either going to take McFadden or make the same trade.

I agree,I think McFadden falls a bit but ends up with the Jets at #6

Chris Long is all locked up as a Miami Dolphin unless they are stupid enough to do a Ginn thing again this year and pick someone not suited for thier many weaknesses

Good call. I expect, however, McFadden to fall to Oakland and go there. Unless they get smart all of a sudden and take Dallas up on that brutally stupid "BOTH #1's and Marion Barber" deal they've been floating.

It really depends on what I thought of the OT's remaining on the board. If I thought one of those remaining was a top 10 talent, I'd keep the pick and sure up the line for both now and the future.

If the OT's didn't rate that highly in my mind, I'd trade for the two picks and a pick in next year's draft.

Deus Wouldn't you rather see a ILB and a CB or (2 of the same position) if we did the deal at 22 and 28 and then grab an OT in round 2,3 or 4 where tons of OTs in those rounds have been superb NFL players and instead press on the 2 areas where the team is weak right now in round 1?

i dont think its going to happen. even tho jerry jones is in love with mcfadden.

The Raiders are too insane to do something so wise.

I would not be surprised that if McFadden is gone that Dallas still wants #7 to take DeSean Jackson who I am sure they are looking at to compliment T.O.,Jackson will very likely be gone at 22

No. Truly great offensive tackles have been in sparse supply over the past decade and I can't think of any drafted below the 10th pick in many years. The Patriots aren't likely to be picking in the top 10 again anytime soon unless disaster strikes, so this will be a rare combination of opportunity meeting talent. I'm not one of those people who have been wailing about Bruschi being too old or slow and I think this team can find CBs later in what's being called a very deep draft for corners. If this team can get Seau back with Bruschi and a third linebacker to rotate in the ILB system, and find a depth OLB as well, I think the team will be fine taking the first pick on offense and then focusing on defense after that.

Of course, the missing pick at the bottom of the round really hurts the restocking process this year. I wanted the team to fight the suspension from the beginning, and events have made me believe even more strongly that appealing should have been the course of action.

Marcus McNeill comes to mind who appears to be on the way to a good career for the Chargers at OT and he was not picked till round 2 ,Just 1 example I can think of right now

He had a good rookie season, with a dropoff last year. But I'm talking about the Orlando Pace/Walter Jones type of OT, or even the Joe Thomas as a rookie type of OT that usually only gets found in the top 10 of the draft, more than the Matt Light/Marcus McNeill types. I don't know where this year's class would fall along the talent line, which is why I usually talk about the 'if' of "if Belioli thinks there's a top 10 talent at OT".

But there isnt a top 10 type LEFT tackle, thats why there is now a rumor that has Miami going for Clady #1(Long is a RT). Besides our need is not tackle, its a guy who can play BOTH. Neal is down with a busted KNEE, he may be on the PUP a while.....Hochstien was a turnstyle when he was in there and Mankins blinks in bright lights!
Now I think if we had that trade we would be best served by getting Albert(G/T)of Va and Groves....but as many many many posters have said, there are 2-3 teams above us and 2-3 teams behind us all talking about the same pipedream. If we were even close to making it happen, we CERTAINLY wouldnt hold them to the whole value according to the chart!! That is simply being GREEDY. The chart is a guide, its not the grail. If you initiate a trade, you have to be willing to take a little loss....and I think we might.

we're not drafting any tackles before the 4th rd.

the problem in the s.b. (which people seem to referring too on this board) was not the tackles , it was the inside. brady cant step up, if the guards, and center are backing into him. look at the 'sticky' thread on offensive breakdowns, and see what i mean. i agree with bio-man, that hochstein= headache. we need an upgrade over him. someone versatile who can be like him, but better.

I think I would make this trade if everything falls into place, i.e. McFadden falls, but there are so many variables difficult to tell.. I suspect if McFadden does fall or maybe even Matt Ryan, BB will get a couple of phone calls from other organizations.

yes.

get some youth on this team.
