Jets creating lockerroom problems?

Mind pointing me to the breakdown beacause some Jets fans don't think so on their board? I'm not doubting it but I'm interested in the breakdown.

I do not have an exact quote or link but I remember reading on a Rich Cimini blog (beat writer for the jets) that we were around 18 mil under the cap. Now that may or may have not been w/ Robertson b/c he was expected to have a done deal at that point.

That sounds like with Robertson. He's going to count for about 8.5 against the cap if they don't get a trade/cut done. If Cimini's numbers don't include Robertson, then that's where we differ.

A lot of what you said are my ?'s into the season. Interesting to see how this develops b/c this is a big year for Tangini more so Mangini

Well, it is good to see that you aren't being a homer as many fans would be in the same situation.

I do see it as a positive in one way for Jets fans. I see that either the Jets will compete for at least a Wild Card this year or Mangini and possibly Tannebaum will be exposed as not the answer for the Jets and it will force Woody Johnson to move on.

The excuse this past year was that the reason why the Jets sucked was because they didn't have players who fit their system. They can't argue that anymore. The Jets spent $74 million in guarantees to get Mangini the players he wanted. If he can't at least be in the running for Wild Card in December barring a lot of injuries, he isn't head coach material.

Now that Mangini has the players, all he needs is another laptop to steal.

I would like to keep Tannenbaum b/c I like him overall as a GM. I think he is a little bit inexperienced but I think he drafts well and his decision making is improving. Now for head coach. I personally want Bill Cowher. after meeting the man and talking with him for 10 minutes he is one of my favorite people on this earth

You were obviously too far away in your 'meeting' to be drenched in his shower of spittle.

His jaw is as legendary as they say it is and he is a very caring and engaging guy. Now Dan Marino and Boomer Esiason, they are complete a-holes

I don't think you grasp how both Eric AND Tannenbaum are viewed in league circles these days. And Cowher will go to work for Woody and face Bill and Tuna twice a year when hell freezes over...

And what are the views of these two in league circles?

I have a hunch that Mangini's job is in jeopardy - and if this FA spending spree results is much of the same this season, Mangini will find himself unemployed and unemployable. Of this I am convinced...(bordering on hateful hope :) ) - I know that sounds awful.

That these two inadvertently opened can of worms that had or has the potential to cause the league more damage than their combined careers will be worth in hopes of just causing trouble for a nemisis. I don't think either of them will find employment in the NFL any time soon if they don't manage to save their jobs in NY this season. Tannenbaum probably has another year as he will turn on Mangini to save his own ass. Which is comical since ultimately it was Eric who facilitated the coup that got him his job.

Somehow I think your allegiance to the Pats plays some role in your opinion.

What, you can't handle the truth?

P.S. When are you going to correct the spelling of your screen name?

The truth that all the additions my team made this year will suck, Tangini to be fired at the end of the regular season, the Jets to never sniff competitive and meaningful games ever again? Nope I not ready to handle that truth.

I can not get the attention of Ian or anyone else to change my name but its really not that big a deal to me

I don't know how Cowher and Tannebaum can exist together unless Tannebaum is willing to take a demotion at least in responsibilities. Cowher will only go to a team if he has a Belichick type of situation where Cowher has final say on all football decisions. Cowher is also going to want a guy running his personnel department who is on the same page as him and I don't know if Tannebaum is that guy.

It may be moot since PFT is hinting that Cowher appears to be priming himself to take a college job somewhere.

When you say we are you referring to the Jets or are you on the team or maybe even part of the coaching staff? Wait a minute….are you actually Eric Mangini? Excellent!

Dear Eric,
Please don't refer to yourself as a genius until after a playoff win (or two). Otherwise you make yourself look like the pitiful 13-14 win career coach you are. And Eric...stop snitching! If you don't...once you're fired no other head coach will hire you.

Sincerely,
Bill

PS.. Note to Eric...A real genius can usually spell the word.

I would give Bill whatever he wanted if he expressed interest
