Raiders agreed to terms with Javon Walker on a six-year, $55 million contract, with $16 million guaranteed. He'll make $27 million in the first three years.
Al Davis has lost his mind. Even Walker's old coach Mike Shanahan said the receiver eventually needed microfracture surgery on his chronically sore knee. Walker gained 57 yards on seven catches in his last five games last year, and barely seemed able to run. Perhaps he'll recover, but Walker isn't worth Randy Moss money even when healthy. Like Moss' deal with Oakland, this one could end ugly.

Uh, no, the deal makes him 3 years younger. It's six years for twice the $ of 3 years. The guaranteed money is proportionately less.... although it guarantees that a good deal of that 6 years' time will be served.

I don't even bother calling my cousin the Raiders fan any more. He gave up two years ago. Said they are out of it until Al gets planted and the team gets sold.

IF that contract has a team option in it somewhere, then it's actually very similar to Randy's. over the first three years Walker is scheduled to earn $27M, and he's guaranteed $16M. Moss is scheduled to earn $27M, and he's guaranteed $15M, right? So, they overpaid (substantially) for a WR who's coming off severe injuries and needs microfracture surgery, but you're calculations are a little off.

Pathetic Raiders can't get anybody to play for them unless they completely overpay. So Walker holds his nose and takes the money in Oakland for however many years he lasts.

All I can say is that I'm glad the Patriots got the Randy Moss deal done BEFORE news of this hit. Moss is a better receiver than Walker by far. The Raiders overpaid like punch-drunk sailors looking for a hot piece of action. But when they unwrapped their present, she looked like she had seen better days.

This deal definitely makes the Moss deal look that much better.

I mean, let's face it, Walker isn't exactly the young up and coming stud receiver anymore.

Instead, he is an overpaid, overrated, injury prone receiver whose best days are behind him.

As for Moss, he can't be kicking himself too much, I'm sure the Raiders were the one team that was not EVER in the running for his services.

What the hell are the Raiders doing? Walker is 29 years old and has suffered two major injuries and gets payed 55 million? That is why the Raiders are the Raiders.

Crazy contract for Walker.

I don't think anyone should feel "bad" for someone with a 3 year 27 million dollar contract, but it is blatantly obvious that Randy Moss took FAR less than his open market value to come back to the Patriots.

Randy Moss has the exact same contract over the next 3 years as Javon Walker who is coming off a torn ACL and probably has only had 1 or 2 years where anyone would have considered him a top 10 NFL WR.

This would be similar to Tom Brady taking the same contract as Jake Delhomme or Jeff Garcia.

I am absolutely stunned by this. to think javon walker got randy moss money is insane. this even exceeded the offer that the eagles would have given moss. it is amazing how dumb some NFL teams are.

Think about how much money that franchise has tied up in a bust high pick OL, an unproven QB, and an injury prone wide out. What the h@ll are those guys doing? And their stadium is a dump.
