That's what Mort reported on ESPN Mike and Mike a few minutes ago. He quit the day it became clear that Moss re-upped with N.E. What are we going to do now without Sir/St. Brett's waffling every winter? :(

Make waffles. :p

I find that ridiculous by the way. If Favre wasn't so AWFUL in the game against the Giants they would have made the Super Bowl. They were definately good enough to make it last year, the reason they didn't was FAVRE.

I smell an 'unretirement' announcement in the next couple months.

Good for the Packers though. Aaron Rodgers has done his time on the sidelines, looked solid in his fill in performances, and the team as a whole is young.
No need to drop $30-$35M for a 1-2 year shot.

So says Mort, anyways. Something tells me that Favre wasn't going to retire just because they didn't get Moss. It's not like his receivers last year were total scrubs.

What a big crybaby. How the hell do you end such a great career on this type of note. I think he was done anyways but it's so lame to bame it on the FO not getting a player they had no shot at anyways.

I agree...this is just another made up media fantasy. What a load of crap. Green Bay has a GREAT receiver corps. What an insult to them. Brett blew it in the NFCCG by reverting back to his happy go lucky football flinging self.

Totally agreed. :agree:

I think it would be a shame if Favre ended his HOF career because of anything other than that he simply felt better about retiring than playing another football season.

Brett = Brat... see what I did there, by changing a few letters around? It nearly looks the same......... and he would be acting like a brat if he retired because they didn't sign a star WR...... right? :bricks:

You're assuming that what Mort said is anything more than baseless speculation. I have a very hard time believing that it is.

Look at the different approach that Tedy B took Vs Lord Brett in announcing his decision. It seems that Lord Brett makes a circus show out of this each year. Do you really think he is not comingback after making it to the NFC Finals last year. The guy is a blowhard. Tedy B quietly said a decision would come soon and then boom it is done. I am so tired of all the Lord Brett Assss kissing.....

If I recall his WRs led the NFL in YAC. Maybe someone can confirm but they were leading late in the season. If anything they made him look good.

Because Mortensen always is 100 percent correct.

You know who else would be acting like a brat if they didn't have Randy Moss: yup, our very own Tom Brady. So don't go acting all superior.

Different. Brady wasn't the main cause of the loss the year before. And regarding Mortensen, he's right a lot more than he's wrong. His source is probably Favre or Favre's wife.

A guy on a SOSH football thread posted this:

And Mort now saying that Favre told him(in a voice mail) this isn't about Randy Moss

I'm interested in seeing if the Cal guy, Aaron Rodgers, can finally prove he would have been a better #1 pick than Alex Smith.

Edit: "First Take" was the source for the Favre negate re Moss.

I'm not sure I buy Mort's speculation. The Packers have a fine group of receivers with Donald Driver, Greg Jennings and Jason Jones. Moss no doubt would add a new dimension to that offense but you can't say the Packers missed the Super Bowl for want of recieving talent.

If anything, the Pack should be looking to add TE/RB depth to shore up the short game.

Who's comparing the losses? I'm saying Brady would have been upset, like Farve reportedly was, if he lost Moss this year.

It just screams sour grapes to me. He's quitting almost out of protest to the front office for not getting him a top-level WR. When in reality they would have made the Super Bowl if HE was the one who played better.

Of course Brady would have been upset if he lost Moss. I think anybody would.

Does this mean no more ranting press conferences?
All right maybe he doesn't rant but....
....he did go on and on at those things.
Kind of humorous, actually.:p

Actually, he reported that Favre's decision had nothing to do with the Packers not going after Moss. I hate to break it to ya but the world as we know it doesn't stop and start with the NE Patriots. Geez, are there no old school fans like myself left in the world? Has everything gone pretty and finesse, including posters liek youself?
