i feel the same way. i would love to see him come back. law doesnt drop any balls that come his way and hes got a high football IQ. the pats would definitely get the most out of him. and i think a return to playing for a team that's going to contend will do law wonders. sign law gaffney and draft well and the pats wont miss a beat next year.

He can play CB better than Randall Gay and he will cost less. That is a relief. He might even show Hobbs a thing or two about playing corner. This whole conversation will have to wait if he hasn't been released. I thought he was, but if he hasn't, KC may be looking to get something back for him.

Law would definitely be a welcome addition, we can draft another corner in the 1st round and use Hobbs as a nickel back if the rookie is any good.

I see them trading the 7th overall pick, to get multiple picks.

Just turned 34, 13 years in the league, tackles and INTs fell off a bit last year. Does he have enough left? Not too many DBs have played as long as Ty. Some that have are in the HOF. Ronnie Lott played until he was 35; Willie Brown 38; Darrell Green 42; Mike Haynes 36; Jimmy Johnson 38 to name a few of the HOFers. Again, what's Ty got left in the tank? If he's healthy and doesn't break the bank, I'd say bring him in.

This is the realistic post on the issue....Ty has been declining for a few years now....He has had some injuries and has certainly lost a step......I don't see the Chiefs being offered alot for him....If we could get him on the cheap.....or if they do release him.....I could see BB bringing him back to fill in....and retire here.....

Ty Law back in a Patriots uniform is something that we all would love to see. No question about it.

But when it comes to production and what he can bring to the table, well. He's bigger, he's lost a step. Yes, still has great hands. But, he is older, 34 years old.

As far as where he fits in. Yes, he is an upgrade over Randall Gay but not by much. He's NOT an upgrade over Assante. That's a fact.

Remember, we lost a number 1 corner. Something resembling a number 1 corner needs to come back in return and Law no longer resembles a number 1 corner.

I could easily see Law being a nickel back or playing safety for this team next year.

We did lose a # 1 corner but an elite CB should be able to play both sides of the field and take on the opponent's best receiver. Asante couldn't do that. Ty Law always could.

So yeah, Ty Law is a little bit older and slower but he has flexibility skills that Asante will never have.

I think he could provide a spark and pump up the Gillette crowd.

I think if you're going to sign Law to a multi-year contract, you're looking at the distinct possibility that the Patriots would be planning to shift him to safety sooner rather than later. I know Law has said in the past that safety is where he saw himself ending up, so I doubt it would be a problem on his end.

I think bringing him in to transition in a draft pick or two at CB, and then move to safety after a time, is a great idea. If the money's right, of course.

I don't really understand the impulse people have to want to bring guys back years after they've peaked. Take out the sentimental stuff, and why would you be thrilled to have Ty Law on the team? It's like those who were pining for Dillon last year. I think Law has more left than that, but I also think the Pats would be far better served moving on. You can't go home again.

At this stage of his career, Ty Law = Otis Smith. He's lost a step but will still play hard and physical and make some plays (especially when playing Peyton Manning). He will be exposed if he's not surrounded by talent and depth. Right now we have neither, but a day 1 draft pick + another decent vet might be enough.

can we stop the ty law ish! he is 34 and done. if he was to play corner he will require safety help over the top on every play. we need to get a solid legit corner and let ty law go somewhere else.
