I haven't been watching ESPN, but has anyone heard whether or not Dante Culpepper has signed his deal with the Patriots, yet?

If so, what are the terms of the deal?

If not, has ESPN reported what the delay is all about?

Randy Moss and Dante Culpepper are a package deal, right? I heard it on TV.

John Clayton-

Unnamed sources are reporting Dante Culpepper is close to signing a 5 year 50 million dollar deal with the New England Patriots with 20 million in guarantees. This will reunite him with former Viking reciever Randy Moss. Once this deal is done, the Patriots are expected to shop All-Pro MVP Tom Brady. The Jets have been rumored to have interest. The going rate for Brady is probably a 5th round pick.

Thanks.

5 years/$50 million sounds like a steal for a Pro Bowl QB like Culpepper. I'll be glad when they get rid of that stiff, Brady. I'm sure that ESPN and Clayton have great sources in Foxboro.

haha it's funny because when Clayton was talking about the Moss/Cullpepper tandem deal, he kept insisting it wasn't a "package" deal, merely that they wanted to sign with the same team that would start them both .... which is a PACKAGE deal. I didn't really like Sean Salsbury, but it was good to have someone knock Prof. Pea-Brain around some.

w/that 12m signing bonus randy can now hire culpepper as his driver.

Perhaps Culpepper will be hired on as a ballboy. Then he can throw a few passes to Randy. Certainly his height compared to other ballboys would give him an advantage on the depth chart... I imagine he'd start in that capacity.

Why does this have a single star, funny stuff.

He's coming here to do the punting cause thats all he can do now

I wish ESPN would fire Clayton.
They should have a roundtable show where all these blowhards have to answer for the insane 'rumors' they report.

BTW, good call on Culpepper. Brady's way too immobile, and with Culpepper's knees being 100%, I think he'll really take pressure off the o-line.

Dont Clayton sound like Peter king? I'm just laughing at the outcome, glad Moss is resigned (Didn't see that coming :phaha) ahhhhhh beer never tasted better

You misunderstood Clayton. He wasn't talking about them playing football together. He was talking about them being partners on Dancing with the Stars.

They actually did discuss this on Saturday but were talked out of it when a choreographer couldn't put together a routine with just hand-over-hand rolling motions, moon-the-crowd booty shakes and split-the-defense hand jive.

Pity.

Culpepper? Isn't he already our Defensive Line Coach? Oh, no, wait a minute that's Pepper Johnson.

Oh, so you meant Daunte Culpepper? Yeah, sure, I remember him. Yeah, yeah, he did some really cool things, uh, back then, when he, uh, did them. Listen, if Randy wants to bring along a posse, that's fine by me. Wasn't he a Corner Back? We're a little light there and maybe he could help out...

i just heard that the deal between the pats and daunte is "imminent"

it will prob happen any second now...but b/c of the great amount of interest that daunte recieved from other teeams, the pats upped the contract to 5 yrs for 60m, with 30m gauranteed, and 18mil signing bonus...

hey, ill pay ANYTHING to get daunte

how would he fit as a LB in the 3-4?

If we can give up Brady, our first pick and maybe just Welker or someone to get Culpepper I think that would be an absolute steal. I can see him signing for a discount too, somewhere around 15 years, 160$ million dollars with hopefully only half of that guaranteed up front.

Seriously, if the Pats FO can't pull off this deal then we're screwed and Moss will most likely be a total malcontent having to deal with Tom "6th round" Brady for the next 3 years.

Matt Walsh hired him as his personal caddy.

I'm tired of the Patriots jerking at our heartstrings like this. If they don't step up and get the Culpepper contract signed, I am DONE with this team. I know you all will say I'll be back, but honestly I can't take one more betrayal from this incompetent front office.

This offseason has already been slow torture, and to lose out now on the crown jewel of the free agent class is just asking too much of my patience. If I see Culpepper in a Jets uniform next year, I think heads have got to roll. Hear me BB and Pioli, you're on the hot seat over this one!!!!
