Just watching Rome is Burning and Jim just dogged Assante for his interview comment of wanting to go to a team that supports its players and a chance to play in the SB. Its pretty funny but he pretty much says Assante should just come clean as to why he left (which was for the money) and that he was willing to sacrifice losing 7-8 games to be with the Eagles to do so.

True, Asante pretty much left for the money. He probably knows he has a better chance of winning a SB with the pats, but in the end its all about the money. Not that there is anything wrong with that, he has already won 2 superbowls with the pats. Obviously money is more important to him, since he has already achieved superbowl rings.

Rome is the 2nd person to say this in the past 12 hours.. Peter King would be the 1st..

Jim "Captain Obvious" Rome is a shcmuck. Anyone can see why Samuel left, but to hear from that loudmouth jerk is as unimpressive. I've never once seen or heard Rome go out on a limb in any of his rants. Anytime I try to listen to the guy he repeats the same thing over and over, every different way and never once talks about a relevant sports topic.

Sorry. I just had to get that off my chest.

i think everyone knows what AS is all about i used to love the guy, but for a player to be all about the money and no team commitment has no respect from me,

LOL. Yeah Rome called out Asante big time. Just admit it's all about the benjamins Asante. It's ok. At least you would be honest if you did.

If Pats wins 19 games in 08, Sante will be pisssed offffffff.!

and He will wish he didn't go to Eagles. Don't worry, Pats will play against Eagles in 08.

Asante covering Moss? That would be great

I like Asante but he's simply not worth that kind of money. He's overrated. A very good player, but not great. With all the blitzing that the Eagles do, Asante will be out on an island alot. I wish him the best, but I don't think his loss is all that big a deal, assuming we sign some veteran to start over Spann.

After the SB Asante said that if he wants to be named w/ the elite corners he has to make that pick to win,he didn't make that play so I guess taking the money was the next best thing. In BB and and Pioli we trust, See Ya!

Have thought all along that Assante is a product of this system and a lot of coaching up.. time will tell, but in another system may not fourish as well. He does have a good safety backing him up, Brian Dawkins..

I hope we get to see it!! :singing:

Not this year - unless both teams were to make the Super Bowl.

Actually, we wouldn't be seeing the Eagles in the reagular season until 2011.

Hmm, how about a team that is all about the money (cap room/savings) and has no commitment to its players? Don't dog a guy for going after a big paycheck. Asante gave several yrs of service here, played hard, won rings and now he's moving onto the next phase of his life. I for one wish him all the best and I'm grateful for his years to the team. I wonder why people dog players who go for a big payday that is in their best interest. If it was in the Patriots' best interest to cut a player, you think they would hesitate for a minute?

I don't see what he said that was so bad. The Eagles have a good team. Sure gave us a tough game.

If he were going to my team, I'd like him to say something like that.

I certainly wouldn't want him to say, "sure, my new team sucks, but they gave me lots of money and that's all that matters".

jim rome sucks, who cares what he says

The giants said in several interviews before the SB (I para-phrase) that asante is the most un-disciplined secondary player on the patriots .... that he sometimes plays hunches and trys to jump routes etc.

A number of times particularly in their long drives they (NYG) obviously baited Asante and picked up good yardage when they hit the guy he was supposed to be covering.

If he did that repeatedly on a BB coached team; what do you think he is going to do on another team even the philadelphia eagles. (it would be even worse if he went to somebody like the falcons or the raiders who have like no discipline).

I expect him to still come up with a high # of picks because he does have good hands; but the eagles will lose several games because of his wanting to play a one man defensive strategy.

i see where your coming from, but me as a person money is not a motivation, im a person about loyalty, sure money makes thing sweeter, but me as a person more motivated to make history, it's a shame i live in the u.k where there is little teams that play american football, as i certainly would be enlisted in one by now, trying to make the pros, as either a tight end or linebacker.

im asking you directly in life, are you motivated by money, or making a name for yourself?

now on AS himself directly, NEP took him as a 4th round pick, and molded into the player he is, if it was not for BB and the coaching staff, its unlikely he will be half the player he is now, i just wish that the lasting memory he left us the fans, was the game winning interception, rather than the drop, but hey like my sig says, forget about then, ive moved on from the superbowl and i cant wait for the draft i wish asante all the best of luck in philly, one of my best friend is a philly fan, (my other friends are giants, panthers and raiders fans see the connection?)
