Sorry if this has been posted already. Why no media frenzy over this? Peter King you there? Witch hunts only apply to the Pats I guess.

INDIANAPOLIS – Chargers General Manager A.J. Smith had no comment yesterday about a report that the Denver Broncos had taped Chargers practices.
The story on Yahoo.com, which did not cite any sources, said the Chargers increased their security “several years ago” during weeks in which they played the Broncos because Denver spies were videotaping Chargers practices.

“Ever since I was hired as general manager I went into procedures,” Smith said, referring to the fact the Chargers have beefed up security around their facility year-round since 2003. “Why'd I go into those procedures? I won't go down those roads.”

The Yahoo report said, “The NFL had been aware of it for several years (at least one NFL official had seen one of the tapes), but didn't step in because it was considered a team issue.”
The Yahoo story was about the larger topic of cheating being a long-standing issue in the NFL, and the reference to the Chargers and Broncos was one paragraph.

“The Denver Broncos will have no comment,” team spokesman Jim Saccomano said yesterday.

Probably because the Broncos didn't come out of nowhere, with a team full of nobodies, and beat the best offense in football to win a Super Bowl. That's why the media isn't up in arms about it. Because the Broncos stink right now.

"A bunch of nobodies" that then went on to win back-to-back Lombardi's and seriously contended for two more since then, including a 16-0 regular season. Any questions left to how the Pats could beat the "greatest show on turf" were put to bed long ago. This whole thing is exactly what this poster referred to it as, a witch hunt. No more, no less. If they really were concerned about the integrity of the game, this whole thing should've been splayed out into the open for everyone to judge.

I'm not saying it shouldn't be investigated. I'm not saying they shouldn't be punished harshly if true. I'm just answering as to why the media cares. Do you really think that the Broncos taping the practice of the Chargers (who probably won anyway) matters as much as one of the bigger upsets in Super Bowl history?

The media is going to talk about what is interesting. The Broncos vs. Chargers is not interesting. The Patriots possibly taping the Rams practice...now that's interesting. Face it - before that Super Bowl, that team was full of a bunch of nobodies. Anyone on here would admit that Brady never had a decent WR corps until last year. It's what makes people watch.

Not really that interesting because the Rams were quoted as saying they saw someone doing it. Plus, the alleged taping was supposedly during their red-zone drills, in which they were 1 for 1 on in SB 36. The only reason it's interesting is because it would tarnish the rep. of the Pat's legacy even more and it would extend the "golden egg" that has become a nice money-making, sensationalized, tabloid machine for the press that used to cover actual sports. "Whatever happened to those guys?"

Give me a break, that is a weak answer. It is just as relevent. I am so tired of the Pats getting dumped on for this, yet every other team gets a free pass. where is Arlen Spector????????? Dungy seems to have no problem bringing it up about the Pats every chance he gets, why so silent on this? Steve Young? I must have missed his comment on the matter. And the list goes on. My hate for the the other teams, their fans and the a** hole media just keeps growing stronger.

Why don't you go back and figure out what I was actually saying. Nobody gets a free pass. If it actually happened (see poster above - story was retracted), then the Broncos deserve punishment as well. What I was saying is that's the reason the media covered the Pats story more. It's not a weak answer - I'm just not answering the question that you think I'm answering.

Keep hating, because obviously the "proof" isn't showing up that "all" teams do this sort of thing.

Like I always said, if the Cardinals had gotten caught doing "SpyGate" they would have lost a 4th round pick and it would have been Page 4 news.
