I think the Jets will sign him today. For roughly what deal we gave AD.

Do the Jets have enough cap space left to sign Pace as well??

I am really not interested in this guy for the money that's being talked about. He gave Arizona one big year.

Big deal.

I think they had like 23 mil or so. 8 for Faneca, 6 for Jenkins. They probably do.

But they also have to pay the 6th pick.

Really like to get him, but he isn't leaving New York.

Ok; Your alternative is?
And if you say Goulston that's fine but what then do you do about CB? Ty Law? He and Hobbs will be your statrting DB's?

The Patriots already have two starting outside linebackers, Adalius Thomas and Mike Vrabel. The issue is at inside linebacker where Calvin Pace resolves nothing. Also, one year wonders are not worth $20 million plus guaranteed.

Ostensibly they would move Pace inside or move Thomas inside and start Pace outside.

I dont think Pace is coming , will take hobson or bailey..

I think he would be a nice addition. But for A.D. money, no thanks.

Calvin Pace is not worth $20 million guaranteed and has not played in the Patriots 3-4 type system. On the otherhand, Victor Hobson has the experience in the Patriots 3-4 type system and has been far more consistent player throughout his career than one year wonder Calvin Pace. Victor Hobson could be a potential candidate to move to inside linebacker due to his size.

Your right. Pace is not worth 20 million. But the only thing that worries me about Hobson is he hasn't done too well with Mangini.

I wasn't arguing that Pace is worth 20 mil. guaranteed. Only your assertion that Pace does not help resolve the dearth of talent at ILB.

Or is that more of an indication that the New York Jets defensive line is not suited to play in a 3-4 defense?

Dewayne Robertson is not a 3-4 nose tackle.

Shaun Ellis is not a 3-4 defensive end.

Victor Hobson is better suited for the Patriots 3-4 defense since he has already played in the system. Besides, I don't see teams throwing around $20 million guaranteed for Victor Hobson.

im happy to hear more options for linebacker aquisition

I'm looking at the total package since the New England Patriots are a value oriented organization.
