Could it be possible pats will trade their pick to another team for a vet and picks.

Sure BB+P have set up possible scenarios and discussed with other teams prior to draft.

We cannot pull off last years rush every year to costly.

Plus this is a deeper draft fpr LBs and Cbs than 2007

Maybe trying to deal with the first priority -- Moss -- first.

The fact that they have not reeled Moss in doesnt mean they aren't trying hard to do that.

exactly, lets trade our draft picks to get older players, just what we need, and here i was worrying, thanks for the insight

Maybe because it is the third day of free agency. The Pats have never been active in the first three days of free agency other than last year.

Trust me, they are working on SOMETHING...

Could it be something that we don't want to hear also? That Spygate has tainted us and players don't want to come here while we are under this cloud and have to deal with the questions and scrutiny that swirls around us?

Yup. But the Pats have only made a splash early in one year of FA -- last year. Usually, they take the view that teams overpay in the early days.

But I can't say that SpyGate isn't playing a role.

I wonder if Zach Taylor's need to play home in TX was fueled, in part, by SpyGate stink.

We're three days into free agency.

God. I don't care if it's April before we see something. The Pats do what they do on the timeline that best suits their interests (not the timeline that best suits this bulletin board.)

My guess is that they want very much to retain Moss. My guess is that Moss is at least to some extent sincere about enjoying what he has in NE. I don't think we lose him.

It is possible, however, that Moss is not sincere, or that the dollar signs suddenly started blinking after the season's end, over a few mohitos with his agent... I read him as much more intelligent than that, myself, just from the few times I've heard him speak.

There is no "do it now!" clause in my fan-contract... there is only a "laundry" clause. I.e., if you're in another uni come autumn, thanks for the memories. (Not that these guys care.)

I don't think we have to worry about that with Randy, though I have been wrong in the past.

Final note, regarding "reasons" the Pats "have not been active..."

Because a handful of teams stood outside the store waiting for the i-phone to go on-sale doesn't mean you can't buy one a couple months later... and oh yeah by the way? A couple hundred bucks cheaper.

The Raiders have been active and they signed away a S from the world champ Giants. Enough said. Are you kidding me w/this remark?!

Maybe moss wants to be paid in euros or British Pounds Sterling?

Great post and great analogy. Only problem is mohito is spelled mojito...not to nitpick too much or anything. I'm just a raging alcoholic who likes her drinks spelled correctly. haha:D I like your attitude though. I'm going to adopt your "laundry" clause.

Maybe it is because the Pats went 18-1 last year and no free agent wants the pressure of trying to go 19-0. I'm sure no WR wants to come here because they feel that it would be too easy to get yards with Brady throwing to him.

I think it has to do with the fact it is DAY THREE of free agency and the the ONLY players of any significance the Pats have signed the first week of free agency under Belichick and Pioli are Adalius Thomas and Donald Hayes. One was a major bust free agent.

1) I brought up a question not a fact.

2) No I am not kidding, its just a question.

3) What on god's green earth does what the Raiders do have any relevance to my point?

I haven't done the counting but I bet if you were to count the number of teams who have already signed free agents, it would amount to easily less than half the number of teams in the league. It's early, man!

This is the age of e-mails and faxes. It should be possible to keep

negotiations going on several players at the same time.

I can't believe the Pats haven't re-signed Jabar Gaffney simply

because they are negotiating with Moss first.

With Gay making the round of other teams, Gaffney and Moss remain

the only Patriot players worth re-signing. Mitchell, Seau, and Scott

have injury concerns.

Seeing there are probably no more than a dozen players in the NFL with the trade value to command #7 overall and who would require the cap space we have and all of them are untouchable (Brady for example) I would say the odds the inactivity is because they are busy trading that pick for a veteran are probably close to zero.

cause if we do sign moss at 10mil a yer and if they use the 7th pick in the draft that pick will make like 7mill a yer we only have 20 mill in cap there is not much they can do

I can't remember who it was exactly, but I can recall a Pats star being irritated that the pats were filling all their other needs and spending big on some of them, while maintaining a hard line on the one big ticket player. Maybe it was Branch.

But either way, I could see them saying that if they make a splash elsewhere, it could make doing a deal tougher with Moss.

In other words, it's not just a matter of not being able to do two things at once.

And yes, I think they should get Gaffney done now, too.

No Tyler D,he wants to be paid in Canadian funds :)......
