Show me the money Kraft and sign someone. We're behind after only 2 days of free agency. w/ loss of Stallworth our receiving corp is bound to get worse, no matter who else we retain. we've lost our best secondary player. If you think Bruschi coming back improves our defense, you are sadly mistaken ... let me make this clear WE LOST OUR BEST LB WHEN YOU CUT COLVIN. other than wilfork the play of the everyone on the defensive line has deteriorated. Our offensive line was badly exposed in the Super Bowl. And unless the hole is the width of the football field we have no running game.

Do something!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH Someone hold me tight and tell me it's gonna be all right.

We are with very short arms.

I do see where you are coming from with this.
It is hard not to feel quite concerned....but the only truly unexpected move so far is the difficulty in resigning Moss.
Everything else including letting an overrated Sameuls, an underutilized Stallworth, an injured Colvin and an overvalued Gay go makes sense.

If the Patriots do resign Moss, we will all feel a great deal better.

Also there are MANY decent free agents left.

I assume you are kidding. We lost our best CB because he wanted ridiculous money.

They had a reason with Colvin we don't know at this time. Maybe his injury was more serious than the broken foot that his father said it was. You make it seem like they don't have a plan.

3 of the 5 OLs were Pro Bowlers, and they were the ones who were most exposed in the Super Bowl. You have to pay through your arse for tackles in free agency, especially early. I'm sure they'll add someone in day two of the draft.

Now...List the free agent that you would have liked to sign that signed at a fair market contract.

Does anyone pay attention to the way the Krafts want their team run?
They are in this for the long haul.
No cap hell for a onetime shot at glory.
The only thing I dread is the whining is so bad now,but wait until/if RM signs with another team. This board will be unbearable(or worse than it is now, which is pretty bad).

You give deeper meaning to the term kneejerk fan...

What this team really needs rght now is for Ian Logue to pony up some decent money for upgraded emoticons to allow the intelligent fans on his website to better express our frustration with the continued existence of you mindless bandwaggoners.

Show me the Smilies Ian...Do something!!!

someone needs to whisper, no i mean yell, into kraft's ear:

THE CAP IS BIGGER THIS YEAR SO YOU CAN EXPECT FREE AGENTS TO GET PAID MORE. WE LOST - AS IN DID NOT WIN - THE SUPER BOWL LAST YEAR. WE ARE LOSING STARTERS TO FREE AGENCY LEFT AND RIGHT, AND THEY ARE THE YOUNGER PLAYERS THIS TEAM NEEDS. YOU CANNOT EXPECT TO REPLACE ALL THE DEPARTURES AND THE AGED RETURNEES THROUGH THE DRAFT. GET REAL, KEEP YOUR YOUNG STARS AND MAKE BADLY NEEDED PICKUPS IN FREE AGENCY

I agree with you in many ways.......I, for one, am not a big supporter of Randall gay.....He got burned alot and I wouldn't overpay for the guy in any way.......I like Samuels alot.....good instincts and as was said earlier....our best secondary player at the MOMENT (I expect that honor to go to Merriweather this next year).....But once again, to overpay like that for Samuels who did not have a stellar year overall and had the SB title go through his hands.....time to move on.....However, the stallworth move bothers me a bit.....IF we don't sign Randy Moss!!!! If Moss signs....then letting Donte go makes sense.....this is what keeps making me think that this is why I DO feel that Randy will be back.....I don't see them letting both go.......

Now worst case scenario, Moss goes......Donte is gone.......we are left with Welker, Gaffney, Washington (wasn't utilized last year as a starting WR which shows you what BB thinks of his receiving skills......) and Chad Jackson.....and in effect we go from having the BEST WR corps in the NFL....to average/above average......

Now as for Colvin.....I didn't realize how bad his foot injury was......obviously SOME other team would have taken a run at him (no pun intended) by now.....if something was not seriously wrong that will hamper his play..........time will tell on this one......

I am sure BB and Pioli have a great plan brewing......we just need to sit tight and drink some kool aid!!! :)

Let's see, Samuel just got $60 million for 6 years. The only 'shutdown' describing him was his defensive shutdown in the Superbowl in getting burned. I am sure he will prove us right as a value loss to another team, meaning he will disappear as a beneficiary of a system. Colvin was due to make $7.9 million after playing an average of how many games per year during his time in New England? I like Colvin, but he has always had health issues and as such only a fool would pay that salary. Stallworth is a great receiver, but not even close to the number 2 spot on this team.

It is always good to track rumors because of their accuracy as I am sure Moss would not be told to see what offers are out there to assess reasonable expectations before signing with New England. I am also sure that Colvin could not return after doing the same. I an further certain that Pioli is in Florida working on his golf game rather than bringing in new additions.

The Patriots do not make stupid deals to end up in salary cap hell. Sure you have money, but that does not mean you spend it stupidly on potential busts who do not fit the system. Take whatever substance you need to mellow out and realize the front office knows a little bit more about these deals than you do.

The Pats operate in a very methodical fashion. They determine

what a player is worth and will not offer more. They will not rush

into spending the money. If several million dollars are left over

after filling their needs thru free agency and the draft, they will

tag a player with a likely to be earned bonus and carry the money

over to another year. It is some times frustrating to me that they

operate in this fashion.

The pats spend to or near the cap every year.

Deep pockets is not the issue.

It's a question of allocation.

Oh My God We're All Going To Die!

someday yes, but the idea is to defer it as long as possible. which is not what the pats seem to be doing

This thought is more inexplicable than your initial post. The Pats have sustained a Super Bowl competitor for several years. That is because of judicious use of resources. Building a team not a few stars. They are generally one of the higher payroll teams and generally spend right to the cap ( but not all at once early in the year).

I think your observations were best characterized as "knee jerk"

Baseball season is coming .. perhaps you know more about that.
Ty Warren had a good season.
Vrabel had a good season.
Seymour was injured .. will be better.
Adalius Thomas will be better.

Defense was like 5th in the league ... duhhhhh!!!
