Is Dominique Rodger-Cromartie Worth the #7 Pick?

And Brady was a 6th rounder. If Rodgers-Cromarter adds about 20lbs of muscle this off-season, he's going to be on-par with Cromartie at CB. You can hold me to that.

There's no way the Pat's spend #7 on Cromartie, the ideal situation at this point is to trade down and get some more picks. I honestly don't understand why so many people on this board are in love with Rodgers-Cromartie, i feel he is being vastly overhyped.

don't get me wrong, everything I've herd sounds good, but not worthy of a #7 pick. I'd be happy if he ended up on our roster though.

He is a pure-bread if I've ever seen one, just like Deion. I remember watching Deion for the first time at FSU and I remember watching what he did on the field athletically he had gazelle-like speed, the graceness of a cat, he was so smooth and he just got you out of your seat. This is Rodgers-Cromartie, this guy will not only be a stud lockdown corner and a fantastic kick returner. This guy is destined for greatness. He's an Antonio Cromartie/Deion Sanders ball of clay that has been molded, mixed together and formed. Some mocks already have him as the #1 corner and the others will follow, they're just a tad behind.

Do you know how Chargers fans feel about Antonio? Well that is going to be us if we take this guy. Please BB take this stud, I'm begging you. He not only solves our #1 CB issue, he solves our KR issue. Two issues resolved with one pick.

The only concern is his lack of experience against top competition
from what I read. I'd love it if PATs picked him. he could be the guy to
shut down guys like TO, Burress (Moss? ). At 6'2 and his leaping ability

Whoever is foolish enough to think that Rodgers-Cromartie is overhyped, I hope that you are not even within a 20 mile radius of the Patriots war room.

i like this guy to as far as the lack of experience against top competition evey CB comeing out darft has lack of experience they will now be faceing the best of the best and as far as never had a true shut down corner we did have ty law

If he adds 20 lbs. of muscle this offseason, he will be discovered in a steroid or HGH test. You can't just magically add 20 lbs. of muscle in a few short months (especially if you're alreadu a rippling ball of muscle like most pro athletes), sorry. Worse, adding 20 lbs. would take away Cromartie's best attribute, which is his blinding speed.

To be honest, DRC will not be the Patriots' pick at #7, but he will go higher than he should because some team will fall in love with him. He was getting burned relatively regularly by inferior competition at the DI-AA level and displayed a lack of technique which could be attributed to a lack of coachability. He's a super athlete but so was Andre Woolfolk a few years ago, and now where is he? Out of the game completely four years later. He's a track star playing football and a workout warrior, not a Belichick player. Poor college production at a low level of competition with exciting measurables... find me a previous Patriots 1st rounder that exhibits those traits. One good game at the Senior Bowl does not make up for a mediocre college career.

The Patriots are more likely to trade down if they want defensive backs (though I want Quentin Groves) and look at a guy like Cason, who's a Belichick player through and through. Not the greatest measurables but he has been a superior player in college and can play safety; he also started his own charity foundation in college (something most guys don't do until they turn pro and have an agent/PR guy who says 'make a charity').

We definitely need help in the secondary, but LB is a much more important position in this defense and a "young, run-stopping, pass-rushing, TE-covering prototype" is what this team needs far greater than a rookie CB with potential. Sign Gay, bring in some decent veterans and they will benefit far greater than giving our depleted LB corps a #7 pick at CB.

Well I do recall that the Pats did talk to him at the Combine. I think he's worth whatever BB and SP think they need to do to land him..and hopefully, that means trading down and picking him up. I love this kid and think he could be on par with his cousin with BB coaching him up.
