Is he still available? Is he a popssible fix (I know that he does not really replace Samuel) for the Pats?

Probably too much money.

He possibly may sign for cheap because he might actually realize he has a chance for one more ring before he hangs up his cleats. Maybe not as a starter, but maybe in a safety roll or in a nickle package. Who knows?

We've got money - if they want Law I think they'd pay him well but just on a 1 or 2 year deal. Tying up big money on older players for 3+ years I think is where it gets more tricky.

I'm beginning to wonder if the Patriots are saving the money

for a player called Likely To Be Earned. They can't even seem

to close the deal on Jabar Gaffney.

Right now the Patriots wide receivers that are currently under contract:

Wes Welker
Kelley Washington
Chad Jackson
C.J. Jones

Would you be satisfied with these players? The only reliable one is Welker.

I seriously wonder how much of a market is there for Jabar Gaffney?

Did you see the contract Stallworth got? Some people here think Gaffney is better....

Don't you think Ty Law burned some bridges in this town?

Not at all. He and Bill settled any differences two years ago when we waited for months hoping he would re-sign here. Thing is I don't think Bill would let him play that game again. It would be a take it or leave it proposition as opposed to something Ty could use to leverage some other team.

Obviously not but if we get Moss back then I'm fine with it. I would prefer not to lose Gaff but . . . whatever.

If I were a GM I'd tend to shy away from guys with pro-bowl egos but second string skills.

What about Ty Law needing to feed his family?

Ty will always have that need. That is why we didn't get him back in 2006. KC came up with a half million more up front than the 2 year $9M-11M with incentives deal we offered.

If we're going to draft a young corner or corners or take a shot at some disgruntled NFC corner it would be helpful to have a veteran presence who has actually won here on board in transition, if nothing more. That's the only way Bill will approach it, which is why we are lucky he and not emotional fans make the decisions.

As Curran and Reiss said, Law hasn't been officially released yet.

I'd welcome Law back with open arms. He's not as fast or quick as Samuel at this stage of his career, but he makes freakin tackles and doesn't let interceptions slip through his fingers.
