While we are all focused on Randy Moss, the other pressing need, CB, according to PFT , Sheppard is drawing interest from teams.. But not one of them is named the Pats..

Texans
Bucs
Saints
Browns
Rams
And JETS...

Several teams intrested in Sheppard

SEVERAL TEAMS INTERESTED IN SHEPPARD by Michael David Smith

It's only been 24 hours since the Philadelphia Eagles signed cornerback Asante Samuel, but they're already hearing from teams interested in trading for the cornerback Samuel replaced in the starting lineup.

A league source tells PFT that several teams are showing preliminary interest in trading for cornerback Lito Sheppard. Those teams include the Texans, Saints, Buccaneers, Browns, Rams and Jets.

A team can never have too many good cornerbacks, and the Eagles could choose to keep Sheppard, especially if they move right cornerback Sheldon Brown to safety. But given how much interest there is in Sheppard, it seems more likely that he'll be shipped elsewhere.

I hope were at least an under the radar team lookin at him..

That’d be disappointing.

I'm sure our guys have a plan. I have no clue what it is but I'm sure it exists :D

Re: Pats not one of the team interested in Sheppard?? according to pft

Tom Curran was on WEEI and he said he had a conversation with someone in the Patriots organization about how Lito Sheppard got torched by a receiver and the person in the Patriots organization responded with "well, that's Lito Sheppard for you". He predicted they wouldn't have much interest in him based on that.

I don't know how much input this person has or whether their opinion on Sheppard has changed since it was several years ago, but I found it interesting.

Late note: This conversation was in 2004 he said. Left that out accidently.

Good to hear. Not to take anything away from Sheppard's coverage skills, but he gets dinged up too easily and has a habit of shying away from run support.

Would still like to know who will play CB then?? Deangelo Hall perhaps???

a gamble in pac man jones?? a 34 yr old ty law??

oh wait Webster from Buffalo that is it.

I really want to take a serious look at Pacman.

Guy is a Pro Bowl corner and a return phenom.

Honestly, I don't get some of you people. Why would it be disappointment if they weren't interested in Sheppard? If they aren't interested (which we don't even actually know), then I'm sure it would be for a reason.

It almost seems like many posters have gone blind to the fact that Lito has had at least one injury and missed games for three years straight (he missed 6 games in 2005, 3 games in 2006, and 5 games in 2007) Also, he's complaining about his contract, and wants more money, so it's not like they would be getting him with his current contract. I'm not saying he sucks, and they shouldn't take any interest, but I can't see how anyone could actually be disappointed of they decide he's not for them.

How about the draft where there's a number of first round talent at the CB spot but one that's also deep in talent?

I can't be dissapointed the team I follow might not be interested in a guy I would of have liked?

Didn't say they don't have their reasons or that they're wrong.

You're acting as if I said "Are you kidding me!?! Now I'm worried!". Easy boy.

I think the concern is people don't want to see us lineup with Hobbs and a rookie as starters next year....or even worse Hobbs and Jason Webster. I don't believe that will be the case but there are no suitable FA replacements left for Samuel. They have either been tagged or signed. Thus the trade hopes/discussion.

Don't laugh. Probably the last guy you mentioned. The others are

too expensive.

Yea I agree especially with Webster. He's awful.

That said it's not the end of the world if the Pats aren't interested in Lito Sheppard. They've done well in player evaluations over the last few years, so if they don't want to pay up for a guy they apparantly don't like, I'm fine with that.

I have a feeling Ty Law will be here next year.

Re: Pats not one of the team interested in Sheppard?? according to pft

Randall Gay is looking pretty good now.

Or do we go with Merriweather?

I'm not too worried. I mean Hobbs was a 3rd rounder. We have a high 3rd and low 3rd. Asante and Wilson were picked in the same year.

I'm more concerned about linebackers. Sure we can have a pretty good front 7 stopping the run but we need to make the pass rush better thereby helping the back 4. Rodney can't be our best blitzer.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

This year's draft might be where the Pats find their starter.

How novel of an idea.
