OT: Marcus Stroud to Bills

Stroud to the Bills
Jags DT Stroud is traded to the Bills per PFT for a 2008 3rd and 5th....i guess 3rd ad 5th round picks are used to get big time DT's this year?

He had micro-fracture surgery on his knee, the Jags must have knee something was up when the gave Jackson a 2 yr deal. I still like it for Buffalo

If he can regain his pre-injury form, then it will be a great addition.

No kidding. As a side note, they also go Spencer Johnson (backup DT from Minnesota - he was behind Pat and Kevin Williams all year) for depth. Stroud would be a solid pickup if he can play to his potential.

WOW, the Bills got Stroud for the same price the Jets got fatass injured Jenkins?! What is going on??

Re: OT: Marcus Stroud to Bills

crazy ....teams overpay for marginal players and then give away players who could still be good.

Source: Jags trade Stroud to Bill for picks

The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded defensive tackle Marcus Stroud to Buffalo for third- and fifth-round draft picks, FOXSports.com has learned.

Stroud fetched what has become the going trade value for defensive tackles this off-season. Carolina secured that compensation Friday from the New York Jets for Kris Jenkins, while Cincinnati was set to acquire Detroit's Shaun Rogers for the same picks. That trade, though, is at risk of being nullified because of contractual issues. Detroit has reportedly finalized another trade to deal Rogers to Cleveland for a third-round pick and cornerback Leigh Bodden.

Stroud, who FOXSports.com first reported was meeting with Buffalo, carried the highest salary cap number ($6.4 million) on Jacksonville's roster. After two seasons marred by injuries and a four-game steroid suspension, the Jaguars clearly felt Stroud was no longer worth the cash.

The Bills, though, think Stroud will help fortify the team's 25th-ranked run defense. A starting spot opened up Friday when Buffalo released Larry Triplett.

Stroud, 29, has reached three Pro Bowls (2003 to 2005) in his seven-year NFL career.

Wild Card team next year.

Re: OT: Bills trade for DT Marcus Stroud

I love the Mitchell signing... we got a really good linebacker for really cheap!

I love the Stroud trade... good value for a 3rd and a 5th pick.

I love the fact that we cut Larry Tripplet.... big waste of money.

DT Spencer Johnson... I like it, he hasn't played a lot being behind 2 all-pro DTs, so we shall see.

WR Bryant Johnson and TE Ben Troupe are scheduled to visit this weekend, and more than likely one of them will be signed by Monday.

You are looking at one happy Bills fan!!!!!!!!!!:singing:

You'll have a fine team next year Mr. Flutie and will be pushing for a playoff spot.

Thanks! Jauron has no excuse for not making the playoffs this season... he even said as much. After 9 seasons of not making the playoffs, anything less than a wildcard birth is unacceptable.

Now I just hope we can beat you guys at least once during the regular season, before you beat us in the playoffs...

Well talk to us after Free agency and the draft , you might get your wish..

Re: OT: Bills trade for DT Marcus Stroud

The only thing you guys seem to have against you is luck for whatever reason.

Be it injuries, wacky endings (Dallas game), etc.

It's very true. What I found to be pleasantly surprising though, was that after the Denver and Dallas games, and all the injuries, we still managed to win some close games (e.g. Washington). It seemed that Buffalo had some sort of losing mentality, but people keep talking as though the new rookies don't have that mentality (yet).

These signings aren't big name, but Spencer Johnson is a solid backup addition, and Stroud is a good trade depending on his performance. The Bills' holes are becoming fewer and fewer. While they don't have as much talent in place as NE or other teams do, they have much potential. If it can be realized, I definitely think they're a wild card team next season.
