lost in all this randy this and that talk is the status of stallworth. if randy goes we had better keep stallworth. personally w/ a better run game like we used to have w/ a younger dillon, i think w/ stallworth, welker, gaffney and watson, we'd be just as good if not better than previous years. but in any case let's not focus so much on randy and that we lose sight of stallworth's value

Sad to say the Donte boat has sailed.. Stanger things have happen, but he is meeting with the Raiders who need a WR, and the Browns...

Who knows what's going on behind the scenes but we haven't heard of any desire to keep him like we did with Washington when his option wasn't picked up.

My guess is that the backup plan for losing Moss would be a trade for Chad Johnson.

I also felt that combo, was good enough before Moss, but the way the season was, and how Moss and Brady co existed.. Plus Moss made Wes Welker.. We need Moss, Brady needs Moss, .. I dont want to even fathom of Moss in say a Colt ,Jet or Chargers Uniform.. :bricks:

You think Cincy would do that again with us?? ala Dillon..

I hope Bill Belichick and Scott Pioli feel like you do. I would hate to see

the greatest scoring machine in NFL history dismantled after only one

year.

That it certainly was, but when push came to shove, that great machine couldn't get it done.

On that awful Sunday, the Pats had a banged up quarterback and

an offensive line that looked like a sieve. I don't think we can blame

the wide receivers for the loss.

All that was lost in all this randy this and that talk was you, tom.

Stallworth had a $6M option due before the deadline for applying the franchise tag. We didn't pick it up. Maybe we should have... Lots of people here were comfortable with Gaffney and Washington and CJ along side Moss and Welker. I wasn't because if Randy were lost for any length of time we lacked a #2 who could play as a #1. The difficulty/delay in re-signing Moss in the absence of even a Gaffney extension seems to be driving that point home this weekend. Where you been hiding...

Both Moss and Stallworth will be back.

There's a reason we have been so quiet in FA... because we've set aside a large chunk for Moss.

My greatest fear is that the Pats lose Gaffney, Moss, and Stallworth.

This would revert the Pats back to 2006 when they lost David Givens and

Deon Branch.

This Pats FO is starting to remind me of Jerry Reinsdorf and Jerry Krause, the owner and GM of the Chicago Bull championship teams. Not sure why, but they let MJ, Pippen, Rodman and Phil Jackson walk after the 1998 season, which was insane. I hate it when egos get involved but this is reality with these darn dynasties, we may be seeing something similar, although it's a little more gradual, but the silence through all of this is what makes it so painful.

Part of the problem with the Pats may be that their front office

is a few weeks behind. When you are in the Superbowl, you are

not able to devote as much time to preparing for free agency and the draft.

I can live without Moss if they got Donte back, the offense would be good just not all time good with Moss. Keep our own guys, maybe land a CB or vet LB then build in the draft. This team was 18-1 for a reason. While it needs work like all teams, very little needs to be done. Keep the offense together, inject speed into that front 7 and this team is as big a threat as they were a year ago, if not better. **** undefeated, I want number four thats all that matters.

I don't know how you "keep" a player that you don't have. Stallworth is a free agent. The patriots probably made clear what they are willing to pay. That being said, I would rather see what happens with Moss and Gaffney before comitting to Stallworth. Stallworth is in the same position. He, and any other WR prospect, wants to wait to see what he is worth to the patriots, clearly more if Moss and gaffney don't re-sign.

point is we have to make a stand on one of them or we risk losing them all. and then as someone else said hello crappy 2006 offense, goodbye tom brady's passing skills.
a part of me favors the combination of stallworth, gaffney and welker. moss is an exceptional athlete, no doubt. but he's more improvisational, not physical and not a great route runner. i think the most natural offense for brady & co is based on efficiency, timing and being in the right place at the right time. just look how our system made branch look better than he was? w/ branch you didn't have the natural ability of moss, but you did have a very disciplined route runner.

I'm absolutely fine with two of Moss, Gaffney and Stallworth. There are also other WR's that patriots may have in the mix of possibilities, once we know where we stand on Moss and Gaffney.

We now have Welker, Washington and Jackson. This is already much better than 2006.

If Moss and Stallworth walk, Welker will look NOTHING like he did this past year. I trust the FO right now, so I still believe Moss will be back.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but he was cut.

The Eagles and Vikings are both rumored to be interested.

I'd love to have him back but I think a guy like Stallworth has too much pride to come back here now.
