Amazing! Why couldn't he just say that the Eagles presented the best offer? There's nothing wrong with that. He must be extremely defensive about the whole Get Rich to This Tattoo.

I don't have a problem with him leaving for a more lucrative contract. That's capitalism at its best. But to use an excuse like that is flimsy at best. I could understand someone saying that if they were playing for a last placed team but the Pats over the last few years have always been in a position to win a superbowl.

Well first said the fans were very supportive of their team, and he wanted to be apart of that. After that, he said he wanted to get back to the Super Bowl, and he felt the Eagles gave him a chance to.

This is so cliched and is said just because they can't come out and say "I signed with the Eagles for a ridiculous sum of money that I really don't need, but **** it I'm going to earn it anyways."

Had the Chiefs offered him this amount of money, he probably would've said the same thing if he signed with them.

If he signed with the Chiefs he would have said, "I came here because the coach believes we play is to win the games."

I'm just happy he has enough money to get his nasty grill fixed.

What a load of crap. With The Giants, Dallas, and even the Redskins in that division it will take a minor miracle for that team to get to the SB. Why not just say "Ty Law told me everything I ever needed to know about the NFL"!

He's not so off on that ... granted the division is tough but the NFC is still weak for the most part. Now ... he misses on one grand point. The Eagles have a great coach and a decent defense but they have McKnobb at QB and that means Asante will be watching the big game every year from now on.

Asante's lucky that he got to play for the Patriots and BB. If it wansn't for the Pats organization, I seriously doubt he'd ever make it past a second or third rate corner. He wasn't a 1st rder...he was a 4th rounder, who the Pats thought could be coached up with an elite coach and coaching staff. I may be a little bitter bc I go to school in Eagles country and everyone here is so excited about Asante, and I'm still worrying about Moss. That being said, Asante would have said this any team he went to...so whatever.

Ya know,

That was my point on another thread... what the keck are the Iggles doing dumping that kind of miney onto a good CB when they really need a dependable QB?

Unless they plan on winning games by Pick-6 plais, they are gonna regret this move in oh so many ways.

This is a great country and God is real. Anyone hear Asante speak? Good Lord, how does someone who sounds as intelligent as that make this kind of money? Because he was born with athletic ability that was given to him. Gotta love the USA...

On the bright side, he could have as many as three chances a year to clinch a game by intercepting Eli. :help:

It truly astonishes me, I indubitably agree ol' chap.

I have no problem with Asante, he worked hard, improved and he wanted that big payday.

He's grossly overpaid, IMO, so good luck to him getting it.

He said what his agent told him and what the fans of Philly expect.

Lets's draft some corners and coach them up. I'd be happy if they improved like Asante.

If they were much better, I might even agree with that kind of money. He's not worth it.

Samuel. Just like myself know the Pats will always make the playoffs because of the weak AFCE, but not be good enough to win the Superbowl. The Patriots were built to win the superbowl last season. The way the Pats off season has been so far you would think they won. When older players retire or leave. When big time players decide to go somewhere else. The Pats themselves were counting on winning way too much themselves. The Eagles have a better chance of getting to the Superbowl in the NFC, than the Pats do in the AFC.

Lito Shepard is a better CB than Samuel and I hope we get him. By the time the Eagles get to the superbowl, Samuel will be retired.

and Tom Brady was a 6th rounder...right? That part is irrelevant. The guy was a very good CB for the Pats (not a shut down corner...or the best corner in the league (as he is being paid now).....but a very good CB, and a big contributor to our defense......That having been said, his comments that he "just wants to get a chance to win and play and get back to the SB"....Well if that were true....he was playing for a team right now that still is odds on favorite to go back to the big dance......so that comment is ridiculous......But take nothing away from Captain Paycheck......He is a very talented player.....This is a BUSINESS first and foremost and you have to strike while the iron is hot.....he got his payday....and that is that........Sorry you live in Philly.....that has got to be brutal.....and I thought dolphin fans were obnoxious ;)

Huh???? Really?? I think there are some good drugs going around...that is most silly...

It would be refreshing if some highly paid athlete simply said I was looking for the most money I could get and _______ made the highest offer, instead of all this horse pucky about a chance to win when the team you're leaving still has the best chance to win it all.

Watching Samuel being introduced yesterday in Philly, Assante looked like he was in the waiting room at the dentist's office awaiting a double root canal. He looked bummed out.
