Enlighten me.

Describe to me how exactly you’d spend the money that would be saved and - to what specific defensive players you’d give it to.

Your right. Who else would they spend the money on? This FA class is very weak now and was 1 day ago. You don't need that much money for the rookie class. Why not sign Moss?

I want whatever BB and Pioli think will bring the Lombardi back to Foxboro and keep it there.

If they cut Colvin, decline Stallworth, let Asante walk, AND let Moss walk w/o even tagging him they obviously have an idea of where else to put the money and accomplish just that.

Well, now that Pace is gone, they don't really have an excuse.

I'm beginning to wonder that mysel. Clearly they've freed up some cap room, but at some point you have to get in the game. There wasn't a lot of quality after teams used the tag anyway, and today there is far less quality, especially at LB. I'm not a huge Kawika Mitchell fan, but I had hoped they would at least make an effort to get Pace if they thought he was a fit. Either he wasn't a fit, or wanted too much money. Now we look at Clark Haggans as really the best available. Assuming there's no push for Briggs.

Either way, I can't see BB going into the season with Bruschi, Woods and Alexander playing such huge roles (as it appears now in Feb.) at LB.

Never sign players for the sake of signing them. The Colts are a perfect example. They let all of their big free agents sign with other teams didn't sign anybody signifigant to replace them. In the end, they turned out to be better. On the other hand, the Pats don't have anybody in place to take over for Samuel, Moss, Stallworth like the Colts did. Just hang tight until the draft and they can always make trades with other teams.

Watch the last Giants drive of the superbowl, and tell me you don't want defensive help.

But it isn't quite as simple as giving up one player to get other players.

It is using money wisely by paying for value per buck.

The team has done alright under BB so far. Unlighten me as to why you want them to change what they do. What team has done better in the last few years?

They should be doing like us, not our changing to pay "whatever it takes" to keep any one player.

You guys all need to take about a hundred kilos of valium and wake up next January.

Where was he in the playoffs?

Read my edited post, it's more accurate to what my thoughts are.

I agree, lot can happen in between now and August. I do disagree with the idea that Pace was a "lets just sign someone for the sake of signing someone" kind of guy. There were a lot of good posters on the board who had hoped we might have landed him. I don't think he fits that category at all. But now we move on.....

This year's FA class is like last year's draft. I just wish we had our original 1st round pick still, because this year's draft looks promising for secondary help.

With some of the bigger names having already moved, I don't know where the Pats are going to spend their money at this point.

But did you know.... that when it snows.... my EYES become large and the light that you shine can be seeeen

you gotta be kidding me...Without Moss Welker wouldnt have half the catches he had, I dont care who you are being double and tripple teamed every play your production is going to go down, man you guys must of really like the days of caldwell and gabriel...Moss opens up this offense so much but I guess you just dont get it.

I'm willing to bet good money that they are far apart on years, not money. I'm sure Moss is willing to take a hometown discount in cash, but I doubt he's going to take a hometown discount in terms of years. He's getting old, he wants a legitimate contract and not 1/2/3 years that the Pats are probably offering.

Allowing Wes Welker in the slot to get 27 receptions, including a record 11 in the Super Bowl.
