Briggs

we need to sign him. Dolphins are gunna sign Pace and Briggs is better than Pace anyway. Get Moss done and then real in Briggzy.

Re: Briggs

Good luck with that. By the way, aint happening in a 3-4.

I dont care what anybody else says, I do not believe we are re-signing Moss. I had a real bad taste in my mouth about him after his post-Super Bowl comments. Add that to the fact that we still have not re-signed him and that we did not franchise him, I think the FO is lowballing him.

So that said, I hope we try to stack the D this year because there is no other impact offensive FA out thre. I say we take a shot and use the some of the money to get Briggs and solidify that LB core.

Re: Briggs

he played a wlb on a 4-3 lb what the heck is he going to do in our system.he used to running to the ball with his DT protecthing him from the gaurds.

are you saying we should get him ,bulk and teach him his new position and hope he can block 300lb gaurds ?>

Re: Briggs

We don't "need" to sign anyone.

Re: We should make a run at Briggs

Idle speculation........

Re: We should make a run at Briggs

they better sign somebody all of our playmakers are leaveing, Samuel, Moss, Stallworth, Gaffney, Gay

Re: Briggs

Wow and guess we are going to have to merge threads. I just put a Briggs thread up two minutes after you. I was typing it as you posted yours. Great minds think alike I guess.

Thats because they have Urlacher. Briggs is a really good linebacker and he is big enough to play in our system imo, hes not the size of a Vilma. Hes about the same size as Bruschi, not to mention 10 times better.

Re: Briggs

More like bad minds speak alike.

Briggs:

Will command way too much salary
Played weakside in a 4-3
Way undersized for the Pats system, or any 3-4

Re: We should make a run at Briggs

If we could somehow get a big impact D player and re-sign all the wideouts, I wouldn't be too upset if we lose Moss. Although if this happens, I don't think we will be competing for the super bowl. sure we may go 12-4 or 11-5 but it is going to be VERY VERY hard to compete with the Colts with an average O and an average D.

Re: Briggs

Clark Haggans might be going to the NYG per rotoworld:

http://www.rotoworld.com/content/Home_NFL.aspx

Actually the Giants MIGHT PURSUE Haggans. Here is an excerpt from the article Rotoworld is citing:

One name I do keep hearing as a possible guy somewhere down the line (maybe next week?) is Steelers LB Clark Haggans. Someone familiar with the Giants' thinking has told our Paul Needell Haggans is one of the backup plans to compensate for the loss of Mitchell. We'll see if that pans out. There are a couple other LBs out there who could come at a reasonable price, so I'd expect the Giants to go hunting for this year's Mitchell -- a solid veteran who can step in and compete with Gerris Wilkinson for the job on the weak side.

Rotoworld also says the Pats are interested.

As for Briggs. Pass. He doesn't like the 3-4. He doesn't think he will fit the 3-4. He is more suited for the Tampa 2. Too much money for a guy who doesn't like or fit our system.

Re: Briggs

keep dreaming. not happening. he wants a 4-3 team.

Re: Briggs

yup, briggs has already said he does not want to play in a 3-4, and only likes the 4-3....

Well, I did say "might." But I guess it's mostly a rumor, so I didn't emphasize enough. He's obviously still on the market for the Pats.

Re: Briggs

So its ok to try and sign 5-11 228 pound Zach Thomas but its rediculous to sign 6-1 240 pound Lance Briggs?

Its all about the money Zach would have come cheep and Briggs will cost alot like Samuel. Hopefully nobody throws anything close to what Briggs is asking so we might get involved.

Re: Briggs

Even if we had signed Thomas he would not have cost even 1/10 as much as Briggs....

Rofl, when did Randall Gay and Jabar Gaffney become playmakers? You guys crack me up.

if Thomas could play inside in the 3-4 then Briggs certainly could.
