The St. Petersburg Times "has it on good authority" that free agent Asante Samuel will sign with the Eagles.

In the last hour, there were all kinds of unsubstantiated reports coming out of Philadelphia that the sides have a deal in place. The Birds may wait a few more hours or (ugh) until tomorrow to announce the agreement formally.

sounds like a done deal.

Your title is misleading. He has not signed. They have been linking him to the eagles for a while now

Re: Asantes an Eagle

I understand the title is your opinion but at least note it as such.

Re: Asantes an Eagle

I've also had reports that the Saints were very interested.

Well here is my thought, if Asante signs with the Eagles, then Lito Sheppard becomes very expandable. How about we offer a 3rd rounder for Lito? Obviously the pick will be conditioned on the Pats extending Lito to a reasonable contract first.

Re: Asantes an Eagle

I'd do that in a N.E. minute

Re: Asantes an Eagle

They'd never do a third, what about Seymour and their second plus lito, jk or our second straight up for lito i'd do that.

SAMUEL VISITING EAGLES

Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com reports that free-agent cornerback Asante Samuel will visit the Eagles on Friday.

On Thursday night, it was reported that Samuel already has a deal in place with the Eagles.

Samuel is looking for at least $10 million per year.

Re: Asantes an Eagle

The top free agents usually sign with the first team they visit with. Usually, they decide who to visit first by who has agreed to meet their contract demands.

I'd rather have Asante in Tampa, but I don't think Philly is a terrible place for him to end up. This is much better than having him wind up within the division or with a serious SuperBowl contender.

I'd love to add Lito Sheppard for the Pats 2nd rounder, if he can be had for less than a 2nd...even better.

Re: Asantes an Eagle

Well I hope its not too soon to talk, but at least its not the Jets or Phins..

Re: Asantes an Eagle

per reiss: 6 year 60 mill plus incentives, is what they have been discussing.

including incentives, according to reiss - it's a maximum of $60m

not necessarily, if that was the case it should have been written as 60m including incentives.

It was.....

CB Asante Samuel is scheduled to visit the Eagles on Friday, according to FoxSports.com. It looks like it will be Samuel's only visit, with the sides close to striking a six-year deal that could be worth a maximum of $60 million if Samuel reaches all his incentives.

It was written that way by Reiss. Did you see a different report?

Good, I hope Arlen Spector enjoys it when he drops a Super Bowl winning interception for them.
Ooops...what am I saying? The Eagles in a SB? LOL

Re: Asantes an Eagle

I hope he goes to the Eagles and the Pats get Sheppard. I have never been too high on Samuel he doesn't play bump and run well and is a gambler.
