Patriots agreed to terms with WR Kelley Washington.

Probably not the receiver deal Patriots fans wanted five minutes before free agency opened. Still, the timing shows how much New England values Washington. He'll remain a special teams leader and could see more snaps in the offense if the wideout position thins out.

I'm tellin ya. He will see much more snaps on offense this coming season.

he earned a chance.

good to have him back for special teams and if the position isnt as crowded we will see what he is made of.

Re: Kelley Washington signs

Glad he wanted to come back first and foremost.

Re: Kelley Washington signs

Gaffney/Washington/Izzo/Faulk/Hochstein = unheraleded part of team

Re: Kelley Washington signs

OK, good step in the right direction. I like.

Well I want him a part of the offense, but if he is a number 2 or 3 that is pushing it a bit.. But glad he is back..

Man, I really like Washington. Glad to have him back.

Same here. I'm thinking ST and # 5 WR.

I wouldn't limit his upside as a #2 or #3 WR, he was a solid prospect coming out and looked reasonably athletic in the preseason. Now that he (has to) know the offense, I would expect he could put up Gaffney type numbers if called upon.

I guess I should have stated that , He would be a solid number 2 or 3 WR.. But hopefull not at that loss of Gaffney and Moss.. Which I hope does not happen..

I hope we keep them all :) But if we have Moss, Welker and either Washington or Jackson (whoever looks better in August), I think we'll be just fine.

Re: Kelley Washington signs

Good news! Kelly worked very hard and had some outstanding ST plays, it'll be great to have him back!

If we have Moss, Welker (in the slot) and Sean Connery out there we would still put up one of the best offenses in the league next year.

Re: Kelley Washington signs

Sean Connery is the man never thought i'd hear him associated with our wide receiving corps, but I'm not against it totally.

Second that! I'm not saying he's a 2, 3, 4, or 5 WR, but he's as important as Izzo or Paxton to this team right now.

Re: Kelley Washington signs

Due to crappy college football programming down here, I saw alot of washington. He could be inconsistant, and had some injuries, but when he was on, he was on. He has the potential to be really good. We just havent seen it yet:confused: but maybe, with a year in the system under his belt, he'll show us something more this year.

Re: Kelley Washington signs

I keep freaking out because when I see this thread title out of the corner of my eye, I read it as "Kelly Washington Dies."

Washington,Adams,Jefferson,What do they all have in common?----NONE of them played a single SNAP on the NE Patriots offense last season. You gotta play ONE before you can play more, lol. I heard a great quote today by Schlereth on NFL LIVE---"POTENTIAL CAN GET YOU FIRED IN THIS LEAGUE".
Now he did play reciever in college and was drafted by the Bungals as one....but he hasnt played one(no matter what hotel he stays in)on the field in more than 2 years. Dont get me wrong, I really liked his size and speed coming out of college. He just never worked hard enough to put it together. He has been collecting paychecks to do just that but he was a 4th string reciever with the Bungals and Moss,Brown,Gaffney,Welker,Stallworth and Jackson all had catches for the pats this year. That means he is BEHIND Brown and Gaffney(another scrappile guy)on the depth chart here....7th!!
This year we are all hoping Jackson emerges. Stallworth and Brown might not be back. There is a good chance we pick up another reciever either in the draft or FA so he will be back to figure 5th guy.....But unless 2-3 of our guys are injured he still wont see the field except for some preseason and in practice. I would like to see him in on a HAIL MARY package because of his hieght compared to the rest of our guys. He is a natural athlete, too bad he doesnt like playing football enough to be good. But he has a job!
