Texans just inked him to 4-yr/$16MM with $8MM guaranteed. If Davis (is he even slated to start for Houston?!) is earning that much guaranteed, Moss is gonna break the bank big time ...

If Moss was about getting as much money as possible, he would be outta here either way. Luckily for us, he apparently isn't.

BTW- Didn't the Pats cut Andre Davis? I was under the impression that he sucked.

Dude are you kidding me? Andre Davis is one of the best return men out there. Besides 4M per year is chump change compared to what Moss is looking at. My guess is it will take at least 7.5M per year and a double digit signing bonus to get it done.

Re: WR Andre Davis not doin Pats any favors ...

He had a decent 2007 for the Texans (as any avid fantasy guy would tell you). Plus made an impact on returns.

I agree Moss will take slightly less to stay in NE, but when you see guys like AD getting that kind of coin, I think it might make him more likely to see what is out there.

Just saying, it's not an encouraging contract to see on the eve of Moss's FA.

I'm talking about the guarantee. Some people on here seem to be balking at a guarantee for Moss in the low double-digits. I'm pointing out he is going to get a whole lot more than that in guaranteed if this is what Davis commands. (And he's not *that* amazing a return guy; above-average, yes, but not one of the best in the league.)

TO got a 3 year 25M dollar deal from the Cowboys. It will take some deal in that range for the Pats to sign Moss. Maybe the holdup is that Moss wants more years on the deal? I wouldn't mind going to 4 years, but I would be hesitant to go 5.

The holdup, as you so gratuitously put it, is due to the fact that he can't sign a contract with the Pats until tomorrow.

It's as simple as that.

TO wasnt negotiating from a position of strength though..he was coming of the debacle in Philly as opposed to coming of a Probowl type season. Sure, Moss still has a negative rep attached to him but after the season he had, he can probably write his own check.

Re: WR Andre Davis not doin Pats any favors ...

The Patriots have never been ruled by the stupidity of other teams. I see Davis has never made it past the ranks of mediocrity at receiver.

That's a lot of money for two Kick Returns. Were there hostages involved?

Re: WR Andre Davis not doin Pats any favors ...

Davis is sort of a hometown hero, so it's good that he's finally caught on with a team and got a big payday. He didn't even play football in high school, he was a soccer and track star and went to Virginia Tech on a track scholarship.

You are ruining people's opportunity to fill their empty lives by generating artificial drama. What's next: point out that the Presidential campaign is 80% artifice created by the press for their own good? Have you no shame?
