Anyone else kinda want the pick?

Count me in for having the pick..................Wright's a backup and will always be one, a classic role player.

Can't imagine anyone giving up a 2nd for Wright. Would love for it to happen though.

I'm sure the Patriots would love the pick but Wright was undrafted so the next lower tender would be the "no compensation" level.

good see that he is likely coming back

I heard from another forum there was a 3rd rd tender which seems more likely. I dont know how I feel about this....think about this scenario....
Dorsey drops to us, we HAVE to take him. They talked with Wilfork this week and he was unwilling to extend because of the possibility of uncapped years coming(BIG $$). We get Dorsey, trade Vince, now we NEED a guy there who knows the system..... Red Bryant was the guy I look to at nose if we lose Wright and keep Vince, but there are alot of variables to think about. We dont want to be leveraged against the cap having to spend with the teams like Washington and Dallas that will have unlimited budgets.

people are dreaming if we trade Vince. If anything vince will be franchised if a deal can't be made.

how quick we are to jettison players.

We would be one of the teams out spending everyone else too

Agreed. Vince is the most important player on the Pats' D, imo. No way they let him leave.

First, where did you hear this about Vince ? Second they aren't going to trade him with two years to go just because they haven't been able to extend him. Third, replace Wilfork with a rookie given where the team is right now ?

No way.

Wright is a good player..a backup no problem..if someone gives a 2nd?? Fine..

1) if Dorsey drops to us, we don't have to take him. Where would he fit in a 2-gap 3-4?

2) where did you hear that they tried to extend Wilfork this week?

3) The Pats may play in a comparatively small stadium, but they would by no means be a small-market team. Look at how the Sox do in the uncapped MLB, even though they play in Fenway...

4) Give me one good reason why they should trade Vince now.

I want Wright back.

He really played well in 2006. IIRC, he had some injury issues this season.

I'm with you... I think he played a valuable role in the rotation and "gets" it - both in terms of the philosophy and scheme

But I also can't help but think that BB and Co.'s 2nd round tender might be intended to "trick" a team into grabbing Wright on reputation (theirs - not his,... "hmmm - if Belichick thinks he's this good he MUST be worth a 2nd round pick!) so as such I wouldn't rule anything out

Mike Wright ... powerful, agile ST-er ... belongs on this team !

All this means is that they're fairly happy to pay him second-round-tender money.

Wes Welker he's not. :)

Even if the owners opt out of the current CBA, isn't 2011 the earliest possible uncapped year?
That's 3 more seasons, not to mention I really can't see the NFL allowing it to get that far.

I really want to know wher he gets it that they talk to Wilfork if they had some media outlet (even pft) would have had something about it some where. it's not the first time he as said it to. And there is no way that players are thinking about an uncapped year like that cause if it ends up being uncapped the NFL will proably have and NHL length lockout or strike cause if they go uncapped the players will fight to keep it that way.

I assume you're talking about FootballsFuture.com, where a couple of the posters seem to have drunk one too many bottles of teh stupid (not only did they suggest the existence of a third-round tender, but they also claimed the existence of a sixth-round tender).

:wha:

I'm not sure if any of this makes sense.
