It's a shame that we are arguing over a stiff like Randall Gay. The
time has come for the Pats to draft a couple of good rookies and
then coach the heck out of them.
Plus the entire group of UFA around the league.
The Pats have not signed a good UFA cornerback since Tyrone Poole
in 2003. They wasted a third round draft pick in 2005 on Duane Starks.
Not that impressed with Gay, he was a mediocre corner with an injury history and to be honest, I think Mike Richardson can step right into his role this season.
I wonder if the Pats will press Ty Law even more now that Gay is moving on.
Oh man, I'm getting giddy, we're within 9 hours and counting to the NFL FA bonanza, I won't sleep tonight, I'll have the computer right by my face with my <F5> refresh key set to automatic on Rotoworld.

Apparently they can't come to terms yet.
So now we may lose Samuel and Gay .... Great!
One year ago today's post - The Pats have not signed a good UFA WR since David Patten. They signed Donald Hayes and wasted a 2nd round pick on Bethel Johnson.
Why are you mad? He is a bum. Thank you Patriots for moving on. Time to get some new guys.

Also ... he is the 7th best FA on the market.
And as a backup his stats are even better than that
guy so many wanted here who got franchied by Oakland.

Think about that carefully for awhile.
Better read above. you don't know what you are talking about.
Blue isn't a #1 CB or #2 but he is what you need for your 3rd or 4th
option ... bum hardly .... apparently you haven't watched Blue play much.
The only real knock on him is his durability.

You're smoking something if you think Randall Gay is even close to Asomugha's level. Post some stats (I'd like to know where the stats that other poster listed came from?), I've seen enough to know what Randall Gay is. When he was out on the field for any significant time be got beat, and gave up TD's to third and fourth WR's. Sometimes he'd give up position, or get burned over the top. That stat someone listed talked about "passes thrown in his direct", which is likely misleading. I know for a fact he got torched a few different times in the Eagles game alone, and had some trouble during other games.
Now, I don't want to make it sound like he sucks, and he's a scrub, because he's not. But, he is not a good option to replace Samuel as a full time starter, and would struggle in that role. Hopefully he's a member of the 2008 NE Patriots, but he wouldn't be hard to replace.
That's because he spent two years on injured reserve....... apparently you haven't watched Blue play much.
