Here we are now, in year 3 of the Chad Jackson experiment.

The great thing is even with 2 (ineffective, injured) years under his belt the guy is only going to be 23 when the season starts.

Now when I say worth it – that’s up for you to define. Be it a great #2 receiver, or a solid #4.

So, do you think he will show he was worth the 36th overall pick 3 years ago?

Sorry, he hasn't shown anybody that he can stay in one piece. Please CJ..prove me wrong!

I expect Chad Jackson in '08 to approximate what Stallworth gave in '07.

Stallworth didn't exactly excite me much this year, perhaps by design but still, I find it hard to believe that many, if not all, wide receivers couldn't flourish with a healthy Watson, Welker, Moss (fingers crossed), and Faulk (on 3rd at least) in the game as threats...one doesn't have to be too imaginative to find places to hunker down in a zone against that offense. I could be wrong, and hope Jackson turns out to be a huge talent, but even without, I find it hard to believe a guy with that much natural ability couldn't be as effective as a guy like Gaffney as long as he isn't a total knucklehead (and history suggests he'd have been released or traded if that was the case) if the offense stays similar...

As long as they don't let him return kicks, he will do well. That is too much of an injury risk.

Lets be honest, at the end of the season Stallworth was losing his position to Gaffney. At that time if CJ had shown any ability to become a #4 or even a #5 wouldn't we have used him? The last few games and he couldn't even play WR in one game? I would love to have him prove the doubters wrong. But you cannot ignore what he has failed to do so far.

Chad Jackson is basically like an undrafted free agent coming in trying to make the team. He's shown absolutely nothing in the NFL.

It's silly to even put up a poll about Chad Jackson. Might as well put up a poll about some no-name undrafted free agent and whether he'll contribute or not.

That's not exactly true. He's shown glimpses; certainly we'd expect more from him than we would an UDFA. Unless we choose to ignore his pedigree?

No he's right, we should all just ignore his pedigree.

I vote - Jeez I hope so.
A second round pick ain't no joke.

i think chad has all the physical skills but he has nothing going on in the brain dept.

Oh hey you’re being difficult.

Neat.

Also gave my awesome thread a single star, I had to 5 star it just to even things out. But the star damage has been done. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I hope so... but if he doesn't it is my fault. Some other board had a topic before the draft in 2006 about who we thought would be the biggest bust and I said Chad Jackson...imagine my horror when the Pats drafted him. :(
I actually liked the kid pre draft and thought he would be a good player so it was a preemptive attempt to thwart the jinx to boot. :bricks:

i think with welker moss and watson he will all was be one on on he wont have 1500 yerds but 700 to 800 yerds would be great

if you look at his ratings on madden 08' , he's rated high in every catagory except awareness (brains). maybe b.b. should start playing madden , and ncaa games to help him have better drafts;)............yes im kidding:D

I wouldn't worry too much about Chad Jackson. I still remember that play he made against the Bengals(?) where he crawled into the endzone (or was it a first down). The treatment Maroney got earlier this past season should be a sign of how Belichick & co. treat young injured players. It could be that he sucks and will be a bust, or the front office might be waiting for him to mature a bit before they pounce on him with a contract extension and actual playing time.

I'm more intrigued about the other CJ (Jones).

I think he will be fine and show that he was worth a 2nd round pick.

I don't know what is going on with they guy...injuries like crazy and never seems to say or do the right thing.

That said - the unabashed homerism in me chose:

Yes! He'll be a great #2 star.

I would also agree with this. 2-4 TD's and fewer than 1K yards.

However, It's also possible for him to light things up. We've seen that in the past a few times. Coach wouldn't be keeping him around if they didn't believe he could contribute in some fashion.
