I'm a bit surprised that the general consensus is that Stallworth:

a) Won't be back; and

b) Won't be missed.

In regards to a), PFT buzz is there is little to no interest around him. To that end, I haven't even heard of him visiting with a team.

As far as b), I think his presence on the field did more than we might realize. Sure he didn't have an amazing season, but he had lots of big plays and is a great RAC guy.

I know there is a perception that Gaffney assumed a larger role and supplant Stallworth, but I recall someone posting stats that showed the contrary.

Anyway, after the early-March free agent orgy settles down a bit and GMs light up a smoke, if Stallworth is still on the market I'd expect the Pats to make a pitch for him.

wouldn't it be ''Why does everyone?"

i think he has a legit shot at coming back if he has no great offers out there

Based on his lack of playing time after the Indy game, I just assume someone will offer him more than we will. There may be a lack of interest but I don't think it'll be such a severe lack that our offer will be the best.

I'd love to have Donte back but he's going to have to
reduce his asking price significantly. If the disinterest continues, that could happen.
I think that most teams are just taking the wait and see approach.
I haven't seen a lot of signings by anyone in this young off season.
I'm sure Donte has worked out for some teams at least. No?

Considering the Pats originally brought him in as their #1 receiver for 07, before the Moss deal came through, I find it unlikely he can't get more money somewhere.

It would be hard to imagine a guy his caliber coming back for less, especially considering how his role diminished as the season went on.

Cause Chad Jackson is better for a heck of alot cheeper too.

sorry, that's why you get for making posts end of day in between running reports. ;)

I haven't heard of any workouts. But when confirmed turds like Deshaun Foster are already close to inking deals, I'd think Stallworth could sniff some action.

Just read that the Bucs are $44MM under the cap. Yikes! Gotta think they will make a move for a guy like Stallworth. (And probably Asante; prodigal son returns to Central Florida?)

I wasn't aware of the Bucs healthy cap situation.
You're right. I would think that the Bucs could use a receiver of Donte's stature. Big mistake.
