New England Patriots (from SF) - DT Glenn Dorsey (LSU)
The New England Patriots do have to address the interior of the defensive line and they have been rumored to be testing the trade waters with NT Vince Wilfork. With that said, HC Bill Belichick has been known to take the best player available over need as they often find success later in the draft or with veterans at addressing their problem areas. Dorsey's stock has taken a hit and a month ago, it would seem unfathomable for him to slide this far but it is becoming a reality (especially with the medical red flags). Either Gholston, Ellis, or McFadden will fall to the Pats, so this pick does make sense.

This guy must be some kind of insider or else he's completely making things up. Why would they be dangling Wilfork? The return would be pennies on the dollar compared to what he's worth to the Patriots. Dorsey doesn't project as a NT, either.

So they're going to address the interior of the defensive line by destroying it.

Yeah, that makes sense.

I don't know how brain dead rumors could get worse, but they do this time of year.

Wilfork is a proven commodity, and a beast at that. I think that this guy is just making this up so that it would make some sense for the Pats to take Dorsey.

what a joke, we love wilfork and wilfork loves us, rumors means nothing around this time all bs.

I'm glad he put "the football expert" on his site. Otherwise I'd just think he's some brain dead idiot.

So the pats need to address their interior defensive line.

I guess they need to improve, after all they're getting by with three young 1st rounders.

Obviously a place to improve.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Funny, I saw a mock that had us dangling Tom Brady and get Matt Ryan because the Pats need to address their QB position. I think both mocks are 100% true.

Vince Wilfork is arguably the best 3-4 NT in the league. There are major questions about Dorsey's health and people don't peg him as a 3-4 NT. He is pegged as a one-gap DT because he is more of a penetrating lineman than a guy who can tie up two o-lineman to let others to make plays. Below is Scout, Inc.'s list of weaknesses for Dorsey. Sounds exactly why Belichick won't draft the guy.

Lacks ideal bulk. Does not display the base to anchor versus bigger interior offensive linemen when teams run at him. He needs to improve his lower-body strength and do a better job of splitting the double-team. Must also learn to use his hands better in order to get off of blocks quicker. He needs to be on the move to be effective.

Why would we give away Wilfork for a guy not suited for our system? Why not trade for Dewayne Robertson? Dorsey is a Robertson type of player.

Sorry, but NT is one position we are all set at. This mock draft is just stupid.

im not sure i get this.

at best, it seems like dorsey would only be slightly better than wilfork.

this stupid trade would be equivalent of a guy who makes 2 Million a year, spending 1.8 million on lotto tickets.

If he is a football expert, than I am the ruler of the world to infinity, and beyond...

I added this one to the second part of my draft howler thread. If you find others, please share. :D

With Wilfork and Seymour's deals up in two more years, I could see the Pats drafing d-line if the right player were on the board. It is unlikely that the Pats could extend both Wilfork and Seymour at market rates, so having some youth behind them wouldn't be a bad idea.

But trading Wilfork, with his low cap number, would be insane. If the Pats were dangling anybody, it would be Seymour...and I would be suprised if they were.

Totally stupid.

The Pats have to address the defensive line?

Of all the units on the team, the defensive line is the one that least needs addressing.

Okay, we're set at QB, too, but what a friggin' clueless dipstick.

We would be dangling Wilfork if we were moving to a 4-3 defense.

I'm not going to give this idiot the pleasure of visiting his site. Does he have San Diego taking a running back? Are the Vikes not as good at Guard or Centre as they could be? Is Philly in need of a decent defensive back?

such articles are written to get the exact responses we are giving them here. soon it it becomes a espn rumor and then wilfork is approached to comment on these rumors.
media has nothing to do right now so they throw arrows in the dark. to recap we have so far
a)moss to dallas
b)moss signing on friday
c)wilfork on trade block

not to mention earlier last see moss was on the bubble also.

WTF? Dangling Wilfork? I don't buy this one.

this clown does not have Dan Connor going in the first three rounds. I am missing something?

Using the seventh pick in the draft to get a back up QB. That's precious. They should use their second round pick to get the third string QB.
