deal is going to be for 3 years, $30 million with $13 million guaranteed.

Also, Lance Briggs will be the first major player changing teams. He's going to the 49ers.

This from a source who owns a concierge service for athletes and their agents. Let's wait and see.

Re: Moss will sign early Friday ...

Hope you're right regarding Moss. He comes with a few risks but with him, Welker and Brady, if we protect the QB we're a shoe in for 27+ points just about every game.

Man, I sure hope that you are right. I've heard enough bad news around here lately.

Actually, I don't think either of these moves are shocking. Neither would Asante to New Orleans. If we can't keep Asante, I'd be happy with having him in New Orleans. Same with Rosie, if we can't have him, I hope he goes to a struggling AFC team (not the Jets, Dolphins or Bills) or an average NFC team.

No, they're expected. But the expected doesn't always happen. When Moss' name is on a contract I'll be relived (contract with us, that is :rocker:).

Hey, at least we've gone almost a week without any significant Matt Walsh/Spygate crap.

I know losing Rosie is tough, but he doesn't really rank that high among the greats we've lost in the past few years. Willie Mac, Ty Law, Deion Branch, David Givens, Daniel Graham, Lawyer Milloy, Joe Andruzzi and, of course, Adam V.

I know I am forgetting others.

Re: Moss will sign early Friday ...

If this is true 3/30 seems out of character for the Pats. Usually they'll give a top player a slightly less than peak deal. I was expecting more like 3/21-24.

Re: Moss will sign early Friday ...

I'm ok with $10 million for Randy in this market but that signing bonus is ridiculously high. They won't be able to cut him.

In his 3rd year, he'll be earning $6 million but the bonus charge will be $4 million, if not worse (if they stagger the payments).

That means they'll still be on the hook for $4 or 5 million in 3 years whether he's on the team or not.

I would have preferred a smaller bonus so that his 3rd year would be a PROVE IT year.

Of course this is a rumor so maybe I should shut up.

Adalius did get more guaranted money a year ago.

Its no worse than what we are on the hook for CD this year. IF thats the deal, and IF he's cut after the second year, they can split the hit over 2 years. So thats slightly more than 2 m a year in dead monies....

I hope those #s are wrong. That's $10M more over 3 years than what I would do.

This roster has serious issues at LB and esp. CB. Having a $10M/year WR is a luxury this team cannot afford, and doesn't need.

Maybe the team figures if we don't give him this type of money, some other team definitely will.

So after 3 years of production with the Patriots he would have to prove what in his final year of a 3-year contract?

I think this deal sounds fantastic for the best WR in football. Would be thrilled if they get it done. He would easily command more on the open market.

Re: Moss will sign early Friday ...

Hope this is true, need a boost right now, have not been the same since that day in early February, did starting wearing Pats t-shirts today, that is a good sign.

Re: Moss will sign early Friday ...

Briggs, Willis, and Lawson on the same LB core is sick. Now if they could just overhaul the rest of the team they may make the playoffs. :D

playoff.? No way. 19-0 is the only way to go.:rocker:

Re: Moss will sign early Friday ...

Here's another update involving our favorite team, the Jets:

Look for the NY Jets to complete a monster deal with FA Alan Faneca.

$20M in guaranteed money is what I was told.

Re: Moss will sign early Friday...

3 Years for $30M sounds about right to me. Remember, it has to be competitive offer, at least what can be expected as competitive for top-end WR FAs. Don't forget, there's a Daniel Snyder out there, just waiting to pounce on any available WR with an astronomical bid!
