I assume they are smart enough to realize that even though it's not preferred, a lot of NFL players do it. The only difference with these two is they got caught. I would assume there will be no in house punishment.

Andrews is accused of distribution,a lot more pot. Plus he's a marginal (good) ST player. He's probably gone.

Faulk had a couple doobies. He get's the Robert Parrish "I'm so embarrassed" award.

A lot depends on whether or not this is Faulk's first strike or if he's in the league's substance abuse program. If he's already in the program (we would never know), it's an automatic 4 game suspension.

The argument about pot is really quite irrelevant. The issue is that it is very serious to run afoul of the league's substance abuse program.

No way would either plead guilty. With Faulk, he'll appear in court, and if it's a normal judge, I think he could get off as easily as paying a small fine for having broken the law with the judge continuing the case without a finding for x days. So long as he doesn't get into trouble again during those x days, the charges will be dismissed.

Andrews' case is more serious. I'm sure there's some sort of weight classification, but being caught with a half pound of pot is not a good thing.

How the league and the Pats will handle either situation, I really don't know considering I don't know more details, but my guess is, the Pats will release Andrews.

harrison got caught with hgh, he wasnt cut, you dont cut someone like faulk a team captain and model citizen for a couple of joints

Bingo. Much more serious offense in NFL terms. And frankly I think Faulk is more important at this point than Rodney.

I'm not just trying to find a way to give Faulk an exemption b/c he's far more important, but what he did is far a lesser crime than what Andrews did. Andrews was dealing.

Faulk will get a slap on the wrist, if anything, both from the legal system & the Pats. And then they'll move on. Kevin Faulk is part of the Patriots family, you forgive family for their mistakes and you move on.

OTOH, the NFL specifically bans the use of HGH, at least without a doctor's prescription (and maybe even then).

I don't believe they can be cut at this point even if the Pats wanted to cut them. I don't think they can be cut for drug use unless they fail the program.

They can be cut for improper conduct. The Patriots have done it before. Kenyatta Jones and that punter from 2 years ago. Both of whom were arrested.

I think in Faulk's case they will let the league decide any punishment. Hopefully it's just peeing in the cup, but it will depend on what Louisiana does to. I believe Goodell can suspend on a first offense where an arrest is involved. Rodney got suspended for 4 games without an arrest or as far as we've ever heard any priors in the program.

Andrews is another whole matter. The league will clearly come down hard on him if the charges remain and even if he pleads down. It's not just caught using, it's arrested. As for the team, they haven't extended him a tender yet as far as we know, so it's possible they won't, in which case he's likely out of football at least for the forseeable future.

The league has a drug policy and program. This should be handled at the league level since the system is in place to handle situations like this. Neither were involved in any other illegal activity other than drug related. So there is no need for additional actions to be done.

Both the league and the NFL owners agreed to this drug policy. They agreed to have this system deal with players who are caught taking drugs. I think a team discipline would be unwarranted.

Assuming you're talking about Danny Baugher, (A) that was last year, not two years ago, and (B) he was actually cut before he was arrested, not after.
