Re: Lua Released as Well

I heard he got caught holding the rest of Faulk's joints.

Re: Lua Released as Well

Ok, now this is just getting to the point of overkill. Are we planning on having linebackers next year?

Re: Lua Released as Well

Add another $270K to the cap room...

Fear the 4-7!

Of course they will. But they will be new faces. Time to clean house. Looks like the starters as of right now are Vrabel and Thomas.

the 7-2-2 is coming!

I don't think we should be too worried about getting rid of a guy who was a 7th rounder and never played a down.

Re: Lua Released as Well

The Pats' 2007 draft just got a little worse. It stands at two for nine

right now. Let's see if Mike Richardson makes it to training camp.

Belichick doesn't take a dump without a plan...

Re: Lua Released as Well

The release of Colvin and to a way lesser extent Lua tell me that there are some good LB's available in the draft.

Hahaha, I know, mostly joking. Maybe BB decided that slow, big linebackers who can take on guards are too much of a liability in the passing game to be the optimum solution anymore, and he's going to entirely revamp the LB corp? In that case, it does make sense that he would keep the most versatile guys of the group (Vrabel, Thomas), and nobody else.

Troy Brown is not retiring. He's coming back for one more year to play LB and complete the cycle of versatility. true story.

Well, I don't think anyone's decrying the Pats for not keeping Elgin, Hilliard, Oldenburg, and Hairston. The latter three all spent time on the Colts' practice squad, and all are sticking around for the offseason. Oldenburg was on the Jets' practice squad, was promoted at the the end of the season, and is also with them for the offseason.

What I decry, Mr. Moderator, is why the players drafted by the

Pats in 2007 were complete duds and teams like the Giants had

a superior draft.

Boy that 2007 draft was great, all that combine work, scouting, etc and 1 draft pick ..

Colvin's release was expected, too much capspace taken up with his current contract. I don't know how much Lua's capspace was, but since he never played a down past season, not a big loss. Thrilled to see who is going to take their place. Not a very big chance of them getting re-signed at a later date.
