What contract would he have been looking at?

I hope he resigns but, was this just a cunning move for one more big pay day?
Sacrifice one seasons for 4/5 more at a great clip?

If so sir, well done, well played.

If so, then I was duped, taken in by his actions and words.

I really thought (and still think) he is here for the long term, will be presented with and will accept a contract that does not break the bank, but is respectful of his talent and cap friendly.

Am I dreaming??

Am I missing something? Has Moss already signed with another team?

No, but you know, the papers always get it right and rumors are gospel.

A little info from the horses mouth goes a long way.

Cunning move?

What was the move?

He forced a trade from a bad team to a good one and Played his ass off.

Yes he may have blasted his way out of the Raiders but if you are calling that the cunning move that gets him paid you would be wrong.

He will get a huge pay day because of the way he has preformed throughout his career. All last year did was reconfirm how good he is when he has talent around him.

But if you want to call it some cunning moev go for it.

Moss would have eventually been cut by the Raiders because he was not going to get paid another $9M to grouse through another failed season on a doomed team. At that point he would have likely either signed here or in GB to much the same prove it deal. That we were willing to trade anything for him, and GB wasn't, was what won him over. We could have squeezed him for an option but we didn't. It was a one year lets see if we mesh deal and we see what the future holds when that time comes. We did options with Stallworth and Washington and they aren't still here though because those options didn't match their market value based on last season.

Maybe the team wants him back at a price and maybe they don't. At any rate they likely want to be sure that price works for both of them so there are not regrets or remorse down the road. Which is probably why they chose not to use the tag on him too. So they will let him test his market and they will also test his desire to be one of Tom's WR's. I have a feeling the spin that they are not close is Tom DePiero's was of gauging his clients actual market which would not emerge if teams believed he was all but signed here. Much like Adam got no offers early in FA because teams just assumed he would remain here. I also think DiPiero really does care about his client's best interest and legacy and won't be a factor in pushing him to max out his value.

That said, if some team offers him a phony 6 year $50M+ deal with $20M+ guaranteed, and that matters to him as representing his market, then he will have to move on. And that is what needs to happen in that case. If he's seeing offers of 3-4 years and $20-30M plus incentives with $10-12M guaranteed and the team is willing to match or come close to matchig them, then he will know we didn't low ball him and made a fair offer.

Right now, today, we don't even know what his market is and I doubt this FO wants to pay more for even that player then they have to. Remember 23 catches has to be balanced against some remaining baggage and a league with few QB's who can facilitate 23 TD's passes to an entire WR corps in a season.

he produced so what more can you ask for?

Re: If MOSS had stayed with the Raiders....

All i was considering was his next contract offer after another poor season combined with a percived bad attitude in Oakland.

I am greatful for that which he has done as a patriot and i am hopeful he will remain with us.
