Rumor DraftDaddy.com: Asante Samuel to Cleveland

I am unsure as to how reputable this site is but this is what they are reporting:

We've been told Cleveland is close to having the parameters of deal done with Patriots free agent cornerback Asante Samuel....They have no first rounder, so they look at him as their first rounder and will pay up handsomely to reunite him with Romeo Crennel.

Wouldn't that be tampering? Against the rules, right? Goodell, where are you with a serious punishment to dissuade others from practicing the same underhanded methods?

Makes sense, with the Crennel connection. Seems odd, though, since they're going to have to sign a lot of guys in the near future already.

How about spending money on another receiver to be out there with Braylon.

If this rumor turns out to be true, then I'm happy. Cleveland's a great team, and I love RAC. It would be great to see him and Asante working together again. He knows Asante's skillset and can utilize it well. Was hoping that Asante would be shipped out of the conference, but... I'm happy for Cleveland.

as long as he doesnt end up in the pats division im ok with it. it would be very hard to stomach seeing him in a jets uniform .

They were 1-3 against playoff teams, I think they're going to be overrated going into next year.

They were 1-3 against playoff teams, I think they're going to be overrated going into next year.

If this rumor turns out to be true, then I'm happy. Cleveland's a great team, and I love RAC. It would be great to see him and Asante working together again. agreed, cleveland is a young up and coming team i like them if asante has to go somewhere cleveland would be great, they got a sick offense they need some D.

Question is Asante is gunna cost a hell of a lot more than the 22nd pick in the draft, maybe they should view him as two first rounders they way they are gunna have to pay him.

As far as tampering goes, every year at the combine agents talk to clubs..and alot of rumors come out...and while it is tecjhnically tampering..it's never enforced...Wasn't it ted Washington who was rumored tto be staying here and a min or so past midnight he had signed in Oakland? I doubt it happened in a min...and that some pre-talks occured...not at all unusual...I agree it SHOULDN'T happen...but..every year it does...
To Cleveland for AS?? If they wish to spend a boatload good luck...they have some needs, but over spending there??

I think if Senator Specter threatened to hold a congressional hearing and depose all the GM's and agents under oath it would stop...:nono:

Or everyone could just admit there really is no "integrity" to show concern about in the way the NFL has operated for EVER.

Cleveland has an excellent offense, if their defense improves they will be a force and should win their division next year.

Does RAC have a pass rush? Asante could have some fun in that division matching up against Ben and Palmer who struggles to be on the same page as either of his pro bowl receivers and whomever the Ravens end up with at QB.

Don't know how much of a gambler RAC is but he should move Anderson before his stock drops. What he'd bring today could go a long way towards upgrading the defense in the draft.
