Bruschi decision could be near

INDIANAPOLIS -- Brad Blank, the agent for Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi, said today that Bruschi will make it known soon whether he plans to return for a 13th season.

"He's taking inventory right now -- that's his term," said Blank, who is at the combine. His wife [Heidi] is a part of it and he'll make his intentions known soon."

Bruschi, who turns 35 in June, led the Patriots in tackles last year with 99, according to coaches' film review.

Re: Gasper: Bruschi nearing decision

I hope he comes back....i know a lot of ppl don't like how old our lbs are but i love the fire he brings to this team. whose gonna lead the huddles after the game and the "how do we feel..." chants...:(

I hope he returns as well. Rge point is that they can play some and help with the transition of the ILBs...playing a bit less and STILL contributing. He really would be missed if he retired now, for many reasons.

Re: Gasper: Bruschi nearing decision

I saw Indianapalois at the beginning of that quote I got worried for a second. My hurt might have stopped.

Re: Gasper: Bruschi nearing decision

Comeon Teddy...one more year...you gotta walk away with a fresh new ring.

Re: Gasper: Bruschi nearing decision

one more year....one more year.....one more year!!!

Re: Gasper: Bruschi nearing decision

One More Year!

I'll tear up if he retires. :(

Re: Gasper: Bruschi nearing decision

You can put me with the group who wants Bruschi back. In any capacity. I'd rather have him back as the leader of our LB corps. Maybe to groom a rook or maybe the young players we have stabled at LB.

However, if Bru decides to retire, then I hope the man signs on as a coach or motivational locker room presence for this team. Pay him whatever. I don't care.

Bru can't leave this team. :(

Re: Gasper: Bruschi nearing decision

I really don't understand how anyone can't want Bru back.

Good luck replacing those 99 tackles next year with some washed up free agent or an unproven rookie.

Re: Gasper: Bruschi nearing decision

love to see him back, come on teddy

Re: Gasper: Bruschi nearing decision

I would love for Bruschi to come back for the right price, at the right spot. It is no longer a good option to have Bruschi as a starter on this team. He's solid, he can handle it, but we can do a lot better. IF the Pats can reach a cheap deal with him, keep him and his leadership, knowledge, the depth, etc. I don't want Brushci going without #4. I'd love for the guy to come back for one more year and hang them up. I like Seau, but Bruschi was my favorite from the very start. I really don't want his Patriot career ending on THAT loss.

Re: Gasper: Bruschi nearing decision

Bruschi coming back for one more year would definitely be better

than having signed Zach Thomas.

Re: Gasper: Bruschi nearing decision

If BB wants him to be back, he will be back.

I agree, in a rotation he may have some value but honestly of his 99 tackles did he make a single play? #54 is the ultimate Patriot but if it came down to it I would rather have Seau back than Bruschi.

Re: Gasper: Bruschi nearing decision

I've been saying all along:

1. Bruschi keeps talking about accepting whatever one's role is.
2. Bruschi loves playing.
3. Bruschi is the sort of vet who, if he were a FA from another team, the Pats would be apt to hire.

Re: Gasper: Bruschi nearing decision

....but we can do a lot better.
Not sure about that...what ARE the options at ILB if both he and Seau retire?? There was a big hole after TedJ retired and he did that just before camp...leaving the Pats in a bit of dilemma with BOTH ILBs from the previous year gone...He's making a decision now, which is good, but I would rather see him play another as some younger ILBs move in. In fact, he and Seau would be good to have on rotation inside.

Re: Gasper: Bruschi nearing decision

I am going to respect Bruschi decision he makes....He is the heart and soul of the defense....

Re: Gasper: Bruschi nearing decision

Count me as another fan wanting Tedy back on the team. And so does my family, so that's 4 of us.

I think ALL Patriot fans will respect whatever decision he makes..He's said it before that he takes inventory of his life, what is going on and decides with his wife what to do.As far as Junior goes, if he is coming back, he won't sign for probably 5 months or so as he loves the offseason in CA. I think though that they will have some indication before of what he will do.
