not sure about anyone else, but I'm mildy surprised that the pats are not even talking to Gay's agent. We build so much redudancy into the WR position (Marty booker?) , I think we are woefully thin at Cornerback now if Gay gets picked up by mangina. Assuming Samuel is gone.... that leaves us with the following options at CB:

Hobbs
Chad Scott
Richardson
?????

I know I'm forgeting someone ... help me out here. Does this mean we are a lock to go after a blue chip corner in the first round? Are we seeking a trade with Oakland for asumagha? (sp) what the dillay?

Re: No Pride in Gay?

Nope, Chad Scott is a free agent also.

Re: No Pride in Gay?

Look at our top three corners from last year - a 4th rounder, a 3rd rounder, and an UDFA.

Clearly, CB is a position that BB and Pioli are able to address effectively in the middle and later rounds of the draft.

Re: No Pride in Gay?

You should change the title and use this pun....

No Gay Pride?

Gay Pride it is!

Nope, Chad Scott is a free agent also.

sheesh!!! I guess a complete overhaul is in the works? I can't say that I'm not excited to see how it develops.

Re: editing the title , can't do it, only the post :bricks:

effectively? The CB position outside of Samuel was our weakest link.

sort of makes sense. Belichick did the D-Line and then the O-Line.
Last year was skilled positions offense and Merriweather started the secondary changeover.

We'll be younger and faster next year in the secondary it seems to me.
None of this can be good for Rodney Harrison.

yep begins with meriweather, then dom capers, to find out the next move stay tuned folks to how BB re-invigorates a secondary

I disagree. Our weakest link was lack of a consistent and effective pass rush and a lack of speed in the middle of the field (ILB, mostly).

Re: No Pride in Gay?

think they're going with more of a press corner? different type of corner? get bigger?

I agree with you as well. I think their pass rush was soft and needs to get more agressive. Their blitzes were pretty ineffective. However, their secondary needs some work, big time.

During the Super Bowl it looked like Gay was too afraid to tackle and seemed to avoid direct contact.

Maybe he has an injury.

I agree. These deficiencies lead to the secondary being asked to do too much and looking bad when plays were made against them that would have happened to any secondary that was put in that position.

He had a forearm injury early went out to the locker room and came backand played...afraid?? It did seem like a severe injury...i THINK that might have been it..

He was very tentative even before the injury and I THINK his timidness had something to do with getting injured because he placed his body in an awkward position on that play.

LOL . one of the moderators is either homosexual or just got out of sensitivity training , or both. they edited the original title of the post - "no pride in gay ?" , clearly not getting the good natured play on words. Lame. I guess this post will be removed as well. whatever

It could have been worse... instead of "No action on Gay?" it could have read "No Gay Action?".

He broke his hand early in the game on the collision with Rodney Harrison, iirc

I never heard he broke his hand. I thought it was an arm injury.

You're probably right, I'm just going strictly from memory, and memory that I've spent the past few weeks actively trying to suppress, at that.
