Martz I am saying but I am not saying

And they wonder why his team crashed and burned...bet he never did quite get around to articulating to his team that they lost to us because we outplayed them over the course of 60 minutes. And then they didn't respond like champions the following season, or the one after that, or... That's why to this day his former players think their careers and his tanked because somebody pulled an imaginary rug out from under them.

STFU is a simple concept yet lost on so many NFL personalities...

FTA:

"Of course, I'm interested. I was involved in that," said Martz to a group of reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine who asked about Walsh. "It was my responsibility. I was responsible for a lot of people in that game. I am interested. But I'm going to assume, like anything else, that this is totally false. Until it proves differently, there's really not much to talk about."

That sounds like somebody making something out of nothing. Martz is not "Trying to tear us down". He responded to a question.

Didn't you know, people here are so touchy about everything that remotely sounds like they are knocking the Patriots.

i read the entire transcript of his comments and thought they were quite reasonable.

IMO, the bottom line is that there is a 99.99% chance that Walsh has nothing. However, if he does indeed have a tape of the Walkthrough (no matter how credibly or loudly the patriots may claim that it was "unauthorized"), in the minds of 95% of Football fans and 98% of the media, we will be toast...burned, dried out, popped-six-inches-out-of-the-toaster, crumbs-all-over-the-table, toast.

Martz was very professional.

I thought Lovey Smith's comments were proffessional.

Martz saying I have all the respect in the world for BB and I hope it's not true came off as so phoney to me. It really seems like he saying what he said so he does not come off as a sore loser but that he really does think we cheated or hope we cheated.

It's pretty annoying and quite childish. It needs to stop!!

Saying he's got nothing but respect for BB etc makes you think he's saying the Pats are cheaters?

HOLY CRAPPP! What happens to your head when someone says something like "I love the Patriots! They've been the best team in football when you look at the last decade or so."
I mean..does your head explode then?

I think he was as supportive as he could be. I get the feeling he'll be more dissappointed in the fact that Belichick did it then the fact it was done. He even said it didn't matter, just that he'd be bummed that Bill did it because he respects him so much !

Everyone needs to remember, the media is baiting everyone they can to get a statement that would inflame the issue again. So they ask the hard questions, I wonder why we haven't heard from Kurt Warner's wife yet ?

Martz is an idiot. I am surprised he keeps getting jobs.

Exactly. This is what I keep saying.

Our CBs & Safeties knocking Isaac Bruce on his a s s everytime he went across the middle and Willie McGinest mauling Marshall Faulk like a Black Bear on a drunken camper had NOTHING to do with taping walkthroughs, trust me!

Come on he was saying what he had to say to save face because it is just a rumor but he kept saying this is cheating this cheating.

Like I said I thought Lovie's comments on it were much better.

Yes people have said worse than Martz but at least they were saying what they felt.

Martz didn't want to come off as a sore loser and that is the only reason he tries to give BB respect.

Martz has always given BB a lot of respect. Just because he's almost a one dimensional coach doesn't make him a bad person.

Lots of people IN football think highly of BB.

It's amazing how you guys give someone the benefit of the doubt.

I didn't hear anything in there that sounded disrespectful. He just said that if it happened, it's cheating. If it didn't (which he says repeatedly that he doesn't think it's true, and that he hopes BB is exonerated of the charges), then it's nothing.

For being so defensive of someone who doesn't pander to the media in any way, you guys sure take statements that are made to that same media and try to tear them apart as best as possible. Chill out.

I wish I had read all of your posts before I wrote mine. Thank you for not joining in the bashfest.

Under the circumstances, Martz & Smith handled this about as well as they could.

Count Bears head coach Lovie Smith among those who doesn't buy that the Patriots might have taped the Rams' Super Bowl walk-through practice in February '02. Smith was Mike Martz's defensive coordinator on that St. Louis team.
"I'm having a hard time remembering last year's (Super Bowl),'' Smith said. "To think back to St. Louis, that's definitely harder for me. What I recall is that we were beaten by a good football team that year. It was an excellent football game. That's about all I remember.''
