Very interesting looking draft -- Not the usual names in the usual places. Florio claims his information comes from NFL insiders, which is likely true. However, NFL insiders would have every incentive to lie to him. Patriots take Clady.

They have the best site, but their mock drafts aren't ever that good. No way the Patriots take Clady. People are just putting him there after the way their O-Line played in the Super Bowl.

Crazy stuff with Felix Jones going as the 2nd RB and Chris Williams moving all the way to the top ten.

I'm not against an OT, we could use an upgrade at RT and I could see either line being seen as worth a top ten pick by Belichick. Gholston still intrigues me, though, with Colvin in the last year of his contract and Vrabel not getting any younger.

I could definitely see the Patriots going OT, if there was an elite one available. Our RT spot is the weak link on offense. I just don't think Clady's that good. Granted, my viewings of Boise St. are limited. After Long, I don't know who I'd put next. I think Baker's short arms and average footwork are going to move him to guard. Otah seems to be a borderline first rounder. Cherilus seems to dominate when interested. I guess Chris Williams. I think Oher definitely should have come out. Assuming Long's off the board, I'd be fine waiting until the late second or third round and drafting Anthony Collins or even later for John Greco or Duane Brown.

The only way they'd go OL is if Jake Long fell and I doubt that will happen. What they will trade to do is draft an impact defensive player. Someone this week is going to shoot up the draft charts, maybe a Talib, or Leodis McKelvin, or possibly Brandon Flowers whom Mike Mayock seems to love. The one guy I am watching for this week is Vernon Gholston, whom I think will have a monster of a combine and shoot up into the top 5. I highly doubt he falls to 7.

I'll be curious where Branden Albert goes. He's been a Guard but he's 6'7", 315 and a beast. I bet he ends up as an OT and could go quite high. The highlight package Mike Mayock showed was interesting to say the least.

My belief is that the Patriots feel that can get good value in the later rounds for OL. In this draft their truly isn't that stud tackle. I'm not in love with Jake Long like other people are. I've watched him struggle a few times this year. Gholston had his way with him. I really like Keith Rivers alot, he maybe not be as big as the Patriots like, but this guy is a player. I'm not a Dan Connor fan at all, that all being said most likely come April the Patriots will more then likely take the best corner in the draft they should have their pick of the litter.

I prefer LT at number seven. I'm beginning to think that two will already be gone though. It's easy to see a couple of those teams ahead of us taking tackles. I think we began to see some chinks in Light's armour this year, and a move to RT might be advisable.

I haven't watched him play much either, but my sense is everybody saw Gholston's sack against Michigan and came away with sweeping generalizations about Long's limitations. The fact is Jake Long allowed one sack this season, and that was to the top rush end in the Nation. I don't know any more than that, except that some people think he could go #1 overall.

I think Maroney dreams a career running behind Long-Mankins on the left side of the line. It'd be like Jones-Hutchinson or Williams-Allen.

No way two will be gone, it's possible that Jake Long could fall to 7. I just don't think that a tackle is our biggest need, we could easily find a good to decent tackle in the later rounds. Personally, I'd love to see the Patriots good really heavy in secondary in this draft. I think there aren't great dbacks in this draft, but there are alot of good ones. Do what the eagles did a few years back where they took I think 4 dbacks in their first 4 picks.

Well, if that's the case, then one of Ryan, CLong, JLong, McFadden, Ellis, and Dorsey has to be available at 7, at which point the Pats will be grinning like Catbert. :)

The guy of that group who will be available will be Sedrick Ellis and quite possibly Matt Ryan. And the Patriots won't consider either of those two. Matt Ryan for obvious reasons, and Sedrick Ellis is a 4-3 DL, maybe the Patriots switching to a 4-3, but that highly unlikely. I think the only DL they'd consider takign at 7 would be Dorsey and he won't be there. Get used to hearing the name Aqib Talib, Leodis McKelvin, Brandon Flowers.

So we're going to ignore CB/LB needs because they got beat up by a good DL in one game? Wow, I sure as hell hope not. A tackle will not push this team past where they were last year at all.

I think Belichick will use the #7 pick on a player he thinks is worth it and that's more likely to be a lineman than a LB or CB IMO unless he flat out loves the LB or CB. Given the CB group this year it's almost a lock that we don't draft one at #7 - we could in the mid first round if we trade down. Gholston is a possibility is Belichick thinks he's special. Otherwise I expect a lineman, either on offense or defense.

I completly agree with you. I want to go secondary heavy in this draft. Let's develop some young, aggressive D-Backs. There O-Line is perfectly fine, what we need is a bit of a younger, more athletic defense.

Man that draft is a JOKE. Didnt anyone else realize that Matt Ryan isnt even in the first round?? I like a lineman with #7, but I still think there is wheeling to be done(see next post). First post since my balls descended a couple days ago....havent been able to watch TV/Sportscenter for more than 2 weeks....

OK. . . . I should have been clearer: either a player the Pats really want should be available at #7, or someone that another team really wants should be available there.

If BPA at #7 doesn't help the Pats, I put the odds of a trade at better than 50-50.

With all the available FA quarterbacks, and the quality of CB, RB, and OT, there are some who think that we could have a QB-less first round.

A tackle would help push this team to be better. It would help keep the QB up and the running game going. All of which would have helped this team manage the clock better in the waning minutes of the game.

Now, where to you get the idea that people should IGNORE CB and LB? First, the depth at CB in this draft is RIDICULOUS. There are going to be good CBs to be had in the 2nd and 3rd rounds and possibly 4th rounds. LB is weak in this draft.

I cant post new threads yet--lumping topics

Well, with qb's the teams that need em are playing a game of chicken, and when one foot drops all the others will rush to be the 2nd. I saw a stat that said there were 64 different starting QBs last year, thats AN AVERAGE OF 2 PER TEAM! Just about every team in the league could look at 2-3 of these guys and say he might be better than my #2, right?

Only a few hours now until we lose the rights to franchise Moss, hope they are working overtime today--no lunch breaks!

Another reason to think OL is because you cant keep everybody....and there is a good chance we cant afford Mankins when his turn comes up. If we can find a guy that can play mulitiple positons inside we gotta replace Hochstien. I think Sapp finally had him pegged right.

Trade scenarios I like--
1-- I still like the idea of trading back with Atlanta and grabbing maybe their #2 this year,#1 next year and considerations.....or if he wasnt from VA TECH(UNLV of college football) A HOLE how about this years 2, next years 2 AND Dante Hall?? I know he wants a long term deal, screw him! We get him cheap this year, franchise him like Asante if he does well next year, and start the corner we draft when he leaves! Atlanta with 2 picks in the top 7 would make alot of people very happy!
2--Ryan falls to us,(and we dont like Gholston) we HAVE to take him if we want to start a bidding war. All you have to do is compare him to Brady Quinn, who will likely be shopped draft day, and he will look that much better!
3--Everyone stop talking about trading down with Dallas if DMF is at 7....there will be at least 2-3 teams ahead of us willing to trade back with them for the same value so there is ZERO chance that it happens.

Geez, if I put this in 10 different threads I could post my own thread by now, lol.
