7 year veteran Released by the Vikings and the best FA Safety available on the market now...

The guy has had off field problems in the past 2 seasons but on the field he has been great,8 INTS in 2007 and a known leader among teammates.

This guy would be the perfect compliment to Sanders and Harrison and could push the exit for the worthless Eugene Wilson and maybe move Merriweather into a full time corner when Asante leaves or leave Merriweather in a limited role at safety like last year until probable starting position in 2009.

I don't think Dwight will ask for huge dollars and might make a good fit with this secondary

He is a good player, but does come with risk.

Off the top of my head, he has been arrested for pointing a gun at a guy (when he was about to become an UFA), getting caught naked in a stairwell with a girl, who was so freaked out she called 911, and getting caught in his car smoking weed.

Granted, a lot of guys have warts, but Smith's history makes you pause.

Merriweather isn't ever going to line up as a CB. Just sayin the dude is a molded FS.

oh yeah, another off the field problem child, but might help the team

not to mention the fact that he,,,,,,,,,,,,,CANT CATCH ANYTHING! if he was a corner, id be freaked out. even rodney said that merriweather has the worse hands on the team:rofl:

He and Asante had killer drops in the superbowl.

actually, merriweather had some killer drops in a few games. with that said, i like his upside, and think he will be a big contributer this year.

With BBs history of moving secondary players around NEVER say never...

Yep. Many people forget about his other big drop.

Don't remember it?

If Derrick Mason had gotten into the end zone, we certainly would have. It was the play before. Easy INT, dropped by Meriweather.

Maybe he can work with a nerf ball this offseason, like Samuel did.

there was one in the miami game. i was up in n.e. visiting for christmas, and finally got to listen to weei, and i remember rodney commenting on an easy pick that "stone hands" missed. i laughed my as* off on that one.

did samuel do that? i never heard that before. i quess it works;)

Yes, he did it before his breakout season in 2006. He felt he had dropped several potential interceptions and worked with the nerf ball all offseason. He credited it with helping soften his hands (figuratively, not literally).

Mark Clayton actually. ;)

I really don't get why people want Meriweather to move to corner. He was drafted because of versatility, but also IMO, mostly because Rodney is on his way out. He has all the tools to be an awesome safety. Why stick him where he isn't at his best?

Please list all the safeties that bb has moved to corner. Please also list those totally unqualified to play corner that he has switched. Please ignore the Troy Brown's of the world who play emergency corner for certain pass plays or certain coverages.

You expect me to remember? At that point I was on the ground while the defibrillator was being juiced up.

Only the Super Bowl as more stressful for me. After Burress' catch (which I had braced myself for after the Tyree catch), I paced around for the final 35 seconds, muttering "Oh no...Oh no...Oh no, no, no...Oh no."

I don't see it happening...we'll work that area in the draft.
