My personal opinion is that I do not think Zach Thomas or Marty Booker adds great value. Of the 2, I would strongly prefer Thomas.

Affordable FA's I think PATS should target:

Ron Dayne, Devery Henderson, Antwan Odom OR Calvin Pace, Clark Haggans, Drayton Florence

If I had to pick just 3- I would take Drayton Florence and let samuel go and take Haggans to replace Bruschi and or Seau

Man, it would be great if you went after Dereck Smith AND Larry Allen. It would make up for Tully Banta Cain.

Knock Ryan Lilja off your list....just inked with Colts.

I wouldn't mind at all going after Florrence. Since he lost his starting job in SD, he might not be able to demand starter money, and even if he'd just be our nickel corner he would provide some good depth at a position where we strongly need to improve. Plus, he's been a starter before if he needs to step in.

i would love to get Larry Allen i think he can still play and rely help the run game

DJ Hackett would rock on this team.

After you get Devery Henderson signed, will you follow that up by signing a pair of hands for him?

I like DJ Hackett. Drayton Florence is awful. All the Charger fans here would be psyched. I also like Ken Hamlin but if Meriweather is going to play FS there really isn't a spot for him.

Ken Hamlin is a joke.

Ken Hamlin had an excellent year for Dallas, and they want to keep him.

I don't think we need a FA RB, just a guy from the draft, what we have is fine.

WR's, I would like to have Jabar Gaffney back. Right now we are only sure of Wes Welker. If we resign Moss and Gaffney, then one of those guys might be ok for 4th and 5th receivers. Maybe Kelly Washington could get more playing time if we resign him. I'm still a Bam Childress guy and would be ok with him at #5 oi he cam hold up on special teams. We definitely need to be concerned with special teams and I doubt if Willie Andrews will be on the field so we need another athletic body there.

I think our TE's are fine if David Thomas can stay healthy. I think he can be the pass catcher we want Ben Watson to be. Did you see Troupe as a pass receiver or a blocker? Again I don't see him replacing what we have.

Oh Boy, offensive tackles. I think we are solid there. Despite the complaints I see Matt Light as a very good run and pass tackle who needs help against Freeney, Osi, Taylor and Schobel, what tackle doesnt'. Our backups have filled in well, O'Callaghan and Britt when called, don't know if Britt will be back. I thought Larry Allen was retiring this year and if not maybe he should. Adams would be big money better spent on defense.

I don't see Odom or Laboy in the Pats system. OLB depends on what happens with Colvin and Woods. If they don't come back then Haggans, Pace or Hobson might be good pickups at the veteran minimum or maybe slightly above.

DB's are all good possibilities. Florence would be good in some role and maybe a candidate to fill Samuels slot. I've always liked Kelly but he might not be cheap and Trufant definately will come with a high price tag, might as well pay Samuel rather than Trufant.

Actually, I think the team is still solid overall. Lonnie Paxton needs to be resigned. If Seau and Bruschi came back, I wouldn't be disappointed.

I think we need more young blood from the draft. If they don't trade down, Gholston at #7, if they trade down, CB's and LB's at the bottom of the round.

D. Florence has a pretty solid maturity/behavior problem. If any of you remember, he was the guy who head-butted Graham two years ago in the playoffs. Personally, he's not a guy I would like to have on this team...most people coming from the Chargers organization are people I wouldn't want on this team.

good point

Why no love for Berrian? He has the same numbers as Muhammad and Booker.

That and Florence isn't very good.

Victor Hobson is one guy I'd like. He plays OLB and would settle into a rotation very nicely. He always has big games against the Patriots and knows the system.

Calvin Pace is a big guy and might be able to slot inside. Trufant won't work in the Patriots system. Brian Kelly is getting old but could be a good nickel back if Gay is brought back as a starter. Really, the Patriots could use a couple more LBs and DBs, but other than that the team is pretty set. The important part is resigning our own FAs (Moss and Gaffney, especially) and reworking Colvin's deal (who needs to be back next year).

Backup QB: Josh Mccown, Billy Volek Why? The Pats already have 2 back-ups that they have faith in.

RB: Julius Jones , Michael Pittman, Ron Dayne, Mewelde Moore Why? The Patriots have Maroney, Morris, and Faulk. Unless Morris isn't able to return or they cut Faulk, I don't see them bringing in anyone.

WR: Devery henderson, Kearry Colbert, Bryant Johnson, DJ Hackett Bryant Johnson would be a good addition. So would Hackett, though I thought the Seahawks has already extended him. Henderson is a no thanks. Colbert could be intriguing.

TE:Ben Troupe The Pats have 4 TEs on the roster already. Troupe isn't as good a blocker as K. Brady and I'm not sure if he's as good as Watson, Spach or Thomas. Troupe didn't live up to expectations with the Titans.

OT: Flozell Adams Adams gets too many false start penalties. Also, not sure is mobile enough to play in the Pats zone blocking scheme.

OG: Larry Allen, Ryan Lilja Neither is as good as what the Patriots already have.

DE: Antwan Odom, Travis Laboy
LB: Clark Hagans, Calvin Pace, Victor Hobson

Why would you pick Drayton Florence over Marcus Trufant or Asante Samuel. Florence isn't that good of a CB.

Your signings beyond Haggans and Pace really don't make a whole lot of sense. BTW, Haggans is an OLB, and would have to learn the ILB in the Pats system, which is different than it was in the Steelers system.

The point with FA is to buy low.

Henderson has had trouble with drops, but he ha s made some amazing plays and always seems to get greta separation.
The potential is there...
He can be signed cheap and he has a great deal of raw talent

would you really rather have Marty Booker?

I would excuse Henderson's drops if they were limited to when he had lousy QBs throwing him the ball. However, even with Drew Brees, Henderson wasn't able to step up. He's wildly inconsistent. He was basically a NON-FACTOR this year, despite the Saints not having any WR other than Colston behind him.

Henderson was only a target 42 times. He only caught 20 passes this year. He dropped 10 passes. That's unacceptable.

Yes, I'd rather have Marty Booker or DJ Hackett over Henderson. It doesn't matter if you get 23 yards per reception if your dropping 33% of the passes you should be catching.

Ryan Lilja, Ron Dayne, Ben Troupe. We could use all 3 of them.
