What would you offer Miami for Jason Taylor?

If he were, I assume it would take at least a second round pick, and I'm not sure you want to send that to your divisional rival. I'm not saying I wouldn't love Taylor on this team, because I would, I just don't see it happening.

YUCK, YUCK, YUCK..... Never in a million years. The draft is about long term success. Jason Taylor is about 1 or 2 years. The seventh pick should certainly help you this year. Now I'd do a third in a second. There is a very good chance that a third rounder won't make the team this year (see last year's draft), and Jason Taylor will, so I would do that.

Why would Parcells never send him here? What good is he going to do in Miami? Maybe Parcells thinks he can do his usual "Tuna-Special" makeover and get that team to 500 next year but that's strictly for season ticket sales. Long term, that team would be better off with a draft choice even from the Pats. It's not like Miami is going to contend for the division championship any time soon.

Let me use common sense here, and maybe it'll help you.

New England plays a 3-4 base.

Taylor would have to beat out the following DL:
Seymour
Warren
Wilfork

Now, this means that Taylor won't be a starting DL for the Patriots.

Taylor would have to beat out the following OLBs:
Colvin
Thomas
Vrabel

Now, this means that Taylor won't be a starting OLB for the Patriots.

In other words, you want the Patriots to give away the #7 pick in the draft for a situational pass rusher who'll be around for 1-3 years.

There going to be paying big time cash to whom ever they take with the 7th pick. Probably the same amount they'd pay to Taylor. The objective for 08 is to win the Super Bowl, and Taylor enhances their changes expediately. They'd get a good player at number 7, but this isn't the deepest draft. So what you want to let Asante walk in free agency and draft his replacement at number 7, and pay him pro bowl money. No, get Jason Taylor, resign Moss and Samuel, and your stacked for next year. Let's worry about the future next draft.

I think from what we have seen from Richard Seymour lately, Jason Taylor could start over him.

But the cost for a 30-something veteran is a whole lot lower than a #1 pick.

Id be all for NE acquiring Taylor, but not for anything more than a late 3rd or 4th rounder. His game is based on speed. And he's old. You cant mortgage away the future for to fill a position that's not even of great need. Taylor isnt a 3-4 end. He's not 290 or 300lbs. He's under 260, so in our scheme, he's obviously an OLB. And we've got Thomas, Vrabel and Colvin in those spots. And in current schemes, that other pass rusher is Jarvis Green, when they decide to go big and line up in a 4-3. So, Taylor would be a 5th option at the OLB or pass rush position. You dont give up a ton for that. Now, if he gets cut, bring him on. Love to have him. But the guy here talking about giving up a 1st?? Just let that thought go. Your on an island with that one.

He had 11 sacks last year.The best he ever played was in the 3-4. You guys are totally underestimating how good he is. He'd be our best linebacker. As far as our 5th option are you crazy? He's much better then Colvin, and btw the way who knows how quick Colvin will be coming off another injury. Have you guys watched him play the last 3 yrs? His is a frigin beast.Now, of course I'd love to trade him for a 3 or a 4, but that ain't going to happen.

Does anybody remember how many DEs the Giants played in passing situations? I'm sure Taylor could help out if only to push another LB back inside. The question is; what would it take to pry him loose from Tuna's claws?
