Re: Hobbs was Banged Up

A groin injury and torn up shoulder. What a warrior. This is a major reason I want this guy on the team and one of my starting corner backs.

As for that article there was no need to put that picture on it. Anyone who is still sore about losing do not click the link.

Re: Hobbs was Banged Up

he had a groin injury and a sports hernia...and...something else?? He is tough...

groin injury and sports hernia are pretty much the same thing

Re: Hobbs was Banged Up

I like that the #2 corner on an 18-1 team is the "worst starting corner in the league".

CB must be a pretty meaningless position.

Re: Hobbs was Banged Up

Even more quesitonable why BB/Peas left him on an island against Plexico.

Re: Hobbs was Banged Up

That brings into question why they called the all out blitz leaving him alone on Plax without safety help.

Guess I was typing mine while you were posting yours. :singing:

I believe coverage broke down.from the looks of it he was suppose to take the inside out and merriweather was coming deep along the goal line for support but he made it a second late.

I remember reading someone saying that Sanders was shaded over to his side at the start and moved away before the snap; it's really hard to know what the coaches actually called, all we know is what it looked like. I'll likely never watch that play again so I'll never know more :)

Re: Hobbs was Banged Up

and what do you base this off of?

Picture's worth a thousand words.

Every time a team needed a big play, Ellis was the go at guy. It is really telling that "a source close to Hobbs" is playing the media.

I am sure he was hurt, he couldn't play that badly healthy, but stop with the damage control. He had a bad year and needs to get better. Assante is going and he isn't a starting corner without a strong corner along side him. If I am Belichick, I get two corners and make him a nickle corner. Although since he gives everybody 15 yards, the slot reciever will always be wide open. Thinking about it, his reciever was always open anyway.

Ah, yes, more drivel from people who think they know what they're talking about.

so he's awful because of a picture? Maybe you should learn the concept of zone defense before you make such an assessment.

Re: Hobbs was Banged Up

That's the great thing about this board, I just thought the exact same thing.

So far, all you've managed to do is prove that you neither understand football, how the Patriots play it, or how stupid using a picture as an argument makes you look.

I know what a zone defense is, and Ellis leaves a very large zone between him and the reciever.

Ellis is just OK, but he souldn't be starting on this team. For years the secondary has been a problem. Either from injury or just bad play. There is a reason Assante became a Pro Bowl player when Ellis started to play regularly.

On the play, Ellis wasn't close. There wasn't a whole lot of "zone" to protect and he was still 3 yards off when the ball was caught. Now, you can accuse James Sanders of missing his assignment all you want, the corner fade run by a teams number 1 reciever is a corners number 1 responsibility. If that reciever cuts it inside then the safety might have coverage responsibility also, along with the corner. That little fade pattern was Ellis' responsibility. The Giants ran that play all the time and Ellis had to know it and he still got toasted.

On a last place team Ellis would be ok, on a team as good as the Patriots he proved to be the difference between 18-1 and 19-0.

OK now I'm positive this has to be a troll.
