whoever is hosting the morning show in the place of Denise and Cally-Anne just helped a caller do a real number on that sad sack Meiter Perell....he was playing his usual part of contrantrian and they got going on the Spygate thing and what is and isn't "cheating" vs "breaking a rule". They where putting holes in his arguements all over the place and he came up with some real gems under pressure....here are a couple for your reading pleasure in case you missed it, which you probably did because that show sucks

MP: they had a camera pointed right at the face of the Jets DC, how is that NOT cheating???
Caller: they can do the exact same thing from the coaches box and it's legal.
MP: how can they do it from the coaches box, what do they have, like a super zoom lens or something?!
Host: Meiter we have camera lenses that you'd be able to count his teeth from up there

MP: Well how about this story from NYT in 2002 that says that on the eve of the Superbowl a telescope was seen in a window pointed at the Pats practice....how about that??
Host: what about it, I don't get your point....
MP: Well I assume that's Matt Walsh up there behind that telescope!
Caller: why would Matt Walsh be looking at the Patriots practice through a telescope????
MP: He was looking at the Rams practice!
Host: Meiter you just said it was the Patriots practice
MP: duuuhh....uhhhh....well then it was the Rams equivalent of Matt Walsh

I hope it's there...

Re: BWAHAHAHAH....Meiter on EEI gets stuffed

IMO, they still miss a key point.

Cheating implies deception.
You don't cheat on an exam by putting your cheat sheet in plain view
of the teacher.
You try to get away with something without anyone detecting you did it.

A camera in plain sight for all to see is not deception. breaking a rule yes
but not cheating.

Re: BWAHAHAHAH....Meiter on EEI gets stuffed

Meter does a horrible job playing the contrarian. He should take notes from Michael Felger and Ron Borges. At least they do it well.

As dumb as he is, he is no worse than one caller calling in about how the Pats stole three Super Bowls, Clemens is innocent, and Schilling is faking his injury so he can come back in September and look like a hero.

word to that. Belichick has an iq of 170, if he thought it was cheating, i dont think he would have done it in plain sight.

I live in Maryland, so I don't know of this person, Meiter. However, judging from that exchange, I can only conclude that this is someone who has gotten "some help" along the way in order to appear on radio.

I live in CA but I get the "privilege" of watching him on FSNE every so often. He really is an idiot, he's one of those guys who you can tell immediately is there to try to be funny as opposed to having any insight whatsoever; well, that's the effect anyway, what the intent is I guess I can't say for sure.

Exactly! Good point.

Re: BWAHAHAHAH....Meiter on EEI gets stuffed

That was great. He was so eager to stick it to Belichick he hadn't even read the article properly and he's a radio professional.

Re: BWAHAHAHAH....Meiter on EEI gets stuffed

The guy is a worthless piece of trash who sucks at what he does for a living, the morning show is a better place when he is on vacation, the guy brings absolutley 0 to the table!

While I am not defending Mener or calling BB a cheater.

Your point is not valid.

The deciept comes from not wanting to get caught cheating.

Think about it go back to the classroom with a crib sheet. Yes any normal person would try to make it small so no one could see it. But if some idiot had one that was the size of a poster he would still be cheating. The teacher would see it and still call it cheating. The student wouldn't than turn around and say I am not cheating because I am not trying to decieve you. Wouldn't work.

The big issue here is that rules in the NFL change using a crib sheet is and always will be cheating. So there is a gray area where BB can say I mis-understood. Also There is a big difference between doing something wrong that no one does and doing someting wrong that is done by all your peers.

Example: Certain laws while still illegal are enforced different depending on where you are. Get caught smoking weed in a suburb and you will be in more trouble than if you were in the city because in the city they can't arrest every little pot smoker but in the burbs they have nothing better to do than just that.

Re: BWAHAHAHAH....Meiter on EEI gets stuffed

I really dont understand how someone like Meiter gets a job at a station like EEI. He is the definition of a talking head, with absolutely no insight and a contrived voice and personality. I really think at least 20% of their listening audience would be better on the air.

Here's all you need to know about the guy - he has the gig as the radio play by play guy for Boston College Football. BC was making a run at being undefeated themselves last season so they where getting more attention than usual (Boston ain't a big college sports town, sorry) and during on really close game with BC driving down the field to attempt a comeback win and under 2mins left on the clock they where intercepted and lost the game....you know who made the call on the pick? not Meiter. why? because he WENT TO TAKE A LEAK during the most pivotal part of the game! :bricks:  :bricks:

That's absolutely right. Cheating does not depend on the likelihood that one will get caught. I don't understand why people try to get all lawyer-like with the words and definitions like "cheating" to try to defend Belichick's actions. That's where you get into trouble. You can't win a debate about the different between "cheating" and "rule breaking," and the more words one tries to say to differentiate between the two the more you end up taking positions (like the the one above) that you just don't need to take to defend Belichick -- and in doing so you give those who want to criticize him strawmen to tear down, which has been the real problem with this all along.

Here's the real relevance to the fact that Belichick did this out in the open and notwithstanding the fact that Mangini and others knew what he was up to: It tends to confirm that he genuinely believed his interpretation of the rule.

That's the point. It's a good point. It doesn't need to get clouded up with red herrings.

This is correct. Great post.

I heard this one.

AND I ALSO CAN'T STAND (STOMACH) meterparrel.

Such a whiney little kiss ass tool.

Re: BWAHAHAHAH....Meiter on EEI gets stuffed

Meter's very open about coming from a wealthy family which enabled him to work as an unpaid intern for many years before he finally advanced enough to get a salary. Its an advantage wealthy people have over us middle class people. You can't really blame Entercom for being willing to let him learn for free.

I can't really say anything positive about his Football acumen; but his Baseball stat knowledge is top shelf. None of these guys are experts at everything. I'm 1000% sure he's better at Football than Fred and Steve are at Baseball. Those two are fricken lost.

Re: BWAHAHAHAH....Meiter on EEI gets stuffed

Hearing Meter's voice is like nails on a blackboard to me. He sucks at just about everything he does. If he wasn't born with $$$ he would be a greeter at Walmart.

Re: BWAHAHAHAH....Meiter on EEI gets stuffed

Is it in the archive at EEI website?

Question: Belichick's focus is going to be even more intense this season - I wonder now that HD DVD is done if we can use their web site as the new offical site of the 2008-2009 season:
