Re: Evaluate Ty Warren 2006 vs 2007
Teams rarely ran the ball on Warrens side ... that's all it is.
I thought I'd look this up to see if I could confirm.

Football outsiders breaks down the D-Line stats. Interesting to look at, folks can come to what conclusions they'd like about it. All football stats (especially defensive), even thoughtful takes on statistics such as this, need to be taken with a grain of salt.
Check out the last table:
For the Pats, they ran to the defensive RIGHT (offensive left) 25% of the time, and to the defensive LEFT (offensive right) 18% of the time. The rest of the time they ran up the middle.
So those stats would support the conclusion they ran away from Warren, but of course, teams naturally would run behind their leftside anyway. Again, take from it what you can.
Take a look at the table just above the one referenced above, which shows success to each side.
The Patriots ranked 4th in the league at defending the rushing attack to left end of their defense (right end of the offense) and 19th in the league defending the rush to the right end of their defense (left end of the offense). Seems to support that Ty Warren is doing his job.
Of course, if you look one column over, it becomes a convoluted mess, as you see when the offense runs towards the left tackle - so rightisde of the D - the Pats are only 27th in the league...
So ultimately, I'm not sure what to take from these football outsider stats as they pertain to Warren or to the Pats other than if you trust their word, the Pats are surprisingly middle of the pack in defending the run...
